On Headstones Grey
The Words do say
"Unknown but to God"
But not so
Are these Words scribed here
For I am known unto Thee.

Your Father, Son, or Mate was I
Who answered to my Duty Call
And paid the price
That was My Fate
In Air, on Land
Or Ocean Deep.

I was My Countrys' Young and Best
The Fight for Freedom was My Quest
And now I lay in Foreign Soil
An Unmarked Grave my place of Rest.

Look now upon this Stone of Grey
Remember Me from bygone days
For "Known Unto God"
Am I.
Now Known Unto Thee.

Camac,

The Tomb of the Unknowns is truly a special place and holds a very special place in my heart and many others. I have often thought of who they are, who knew them, who their family and friends are, because we know they had all of this. It took another who may very well have stood next to these Unknowns, to know them, give voice and write this poem.

I think this poem is special, very special.

Camac,
A beautiful homage to the unknown soldier though I know that it is addressed to all that have no name on their tombstones.
Thanks for this homage.

LOA;

Thanks Luv. I wrote that poem in 2000 shortly after watching the repatriation of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa. My small homage to all the brave young Lads and Lassies.
