This is the latest, directly from Ms. McKennitt's website:

And here's her URL:

Her most recent is a DVD including 5.1 mixes of "The Mummer's Dance" and "The Bonny Swans" music Videos as well as some other niuce things. I think it's still avaliable in the limited edition packaging with any of her studio CDs, which have been remastered as well. After 6 months from release though, the only way to get the DVD will be to order it directly.

It seems to me that since the death of her fiance a few years back, that she has really shutdown with producing any new music...but I can totally understand why though. cry.gif

I received an email from Loreena McKinnett's website yesterday that she is indeed not only out doing gigs but is working on a brand new album! Yippee!

I also ordered her DVD. Haven't received it yet, but will let you know how it is.

You know I love that song..

I do love it myself. I'm still keeping my eye out, however, for a good traditional recording of "The Two Sisters", of which it is a version. I really need to run over to Berea, perhaps this weekend, and see if I can find something of the sort wink.gif

Hey Arianrhod! The DVD is great of hers, especially watching her sing The Bonny Swans. I do love that song too! It is good to see her performing again and working on a new album! Yay! Can't come soon enough though.

From what I see here, there are quite a few stations in OH that aren't showing it currently, but that doesn't mean it won't show up when your station is having their next pledge drive. If nothing else, call and ask them if it's planned smile.gif

I have her new CD winging its way towards me courtesy of the local library. My library is part of a network of suburban libraries in the Chicago area, so you can go online, request any material and pick it up at your library. I will then copy the CD on to my computer and load it on my iPod.

I watched and taped the concert last night. She has a very entrancing voice and musical style.

And then order a copy from www.quinlanroad.com, right?

I recently bought Loreena McKennitt's latest CD, An Ancient Muse. I must say that I am a wee bit disappointed after waiting so many years! One of her songs even has the same tune/melody as Highway Man. Gee!

However, there are three songs on her new album that I love immensely and listen to it over and over and over. So there in itself it was worth it for me. smile.gif

I was one of the ones who was not able to see her live concert either..evil PBS stations! tongue.gif I do hope to purchase her live concert DVD. So far I have not seen it on Amazon though.

If you are new to Loreena McKinnett, I would recommend you to get this new album. But don't stop there! Buy all her others as well!

I also have this CD
the sound is kinda different
adding some chinese instrument into Celtic is pretty surprising

I bought Ancient Muse when it first came out. You are right it is a little different, but I was glad she came out with a new CD after so long. I have all of her CDs.

Loreena McKennitt is one of my most favorite musicians! Bar none! I have all of her cd's and was wonderfully delighted to see her DVD "Nights of the Alhambra". She has quite an ecclectic group of musicians playing some very unique instruments. There's uliean pipes and an actual hurdy gurdy player in her entourage. Beautiful music!

I copied all of her cd's to my MP3 player and can listen through my truck radio via an adapter.
question- are there any other artists similar to her style? Beside Enya- she sings beautifully as well, but nowhere near Loreena McKennitt's style.

Really cool! I envy you that you got to see her live! Thanks for sharing!

That's a good question. Is there anyone else out there similar to Enya and Loreena M? One possibility is Clannad, with Enya's sister on vocals.

Clannad has really good songs like Loreena and Enya indeed.
"I will find you" is the most well known i think. And it sure is a good song. smile.gif

If anybody's interested to know everything about her American Tour
you can always look on her web site www.quinlandroad.com.

I've seen her show in Montreal in April and it was a very good show.
Hope it'll help some of you who haven't seen her live.

Blackmore's Night is also similar to Loreena most of the time. The most major difference is the amount of instruments played. They both have that gypsy music quality about them.

Amazon has Loreena's new CD and DVD "Nights from the Alhambra" as a August 21st release date. This is the PBS concert that aired recently for those that missed it or couldn't get it in their area.
