Heights. I don't even like going up a ladder no.gif ...

Posted by: Maddie 13-Aug-2005, 07:11 PM
well, must be a child's nightmare, to be left alone.

My wonderful husband found out and he blackmailed me at least twice a year that he would leave me... until the day I said, just fine. Now he's not saying it anymore because he knows I mean it. grrrr.

Very nice thread, btw!

I'd say that I am most afraid of not being creative. It always seems like the world turns upside-down when I'm not being imaginative or at least somewhat artistic.

A world without art is like an egg with no yolk.

I am afraid of rollercoasters...you can see I am not much fun at Disneyland!!

Posted by: bigjimhainey 14-Aug-2005, 08:32 AM
Well a lot of things scare me occasionally but im able overcome any fear i may feel , right up to my fear of heights. I do ride rollercoasters and even rode the batman ride at sixflags NO, the one where you hang with nothing underneath you. and everytime i get on one or get up high my stomach drops and my body goes rigid and i have to fight to stay wherever i am at.

Posted by: gaberlunzie 14-Aug-2005, 09:21 AM
I have a problem with extreme heights but am fighting it bravely. rolleyes.gif

Oh, and snakes...I really don't mind spiders and such but I can't stand snakes since I once was bitten by an adder... creeping creatures...YUCK! user posted image

Being physically helpless and unable to speak, but completely lucid mentally.

(Good for you, Maddie, by the way. biggrin.gif)

Neat thread. Spiders are kinda creepy and I love snakes so I can't share that with anyone. My fear is running out of time, as a whole life concept, and not being able to accomplish all the things in life that are worthwhile to me.

Posted by: birddog20002001 14-Aug-2005, 08:01 PM
For years I was afraid of walking in front of a car that had the engine running with a driver in it but not moving, but I think that I have gotten over that and now I have a fear and hatred of cell phones.

Posted by: CelticCoalition 15-Aug-2005, 10:29 AM
I have a fear of the unknown. And spiders. Man i hate those creepy little bastards...shudder.

I'll have to say Spiders or snakes neither one bother me. Ever play with a Granddaddy Longlegs? smile.gif

QUOTE (Jeff Foxworthy)

Thanks for the help buddy!  I'm an octoplegic now, Thank you very much. Regular meal on wheels out here. . .

Granted I never did that to any of them, but they're still fun to play with.

Anyway, to answer the question:

1) Being the cause of negative vibes, pain, or trouble for someone
2) Family/Friends in trouble and I am powerless to help
3) losing everyone and everything I know

I think the latter is part of the reason that Celtic Music so appeals to me. It plays on that fear in a way. Of finding myself in a completely alien world, where everything you ever hoped, dreamed, and worked for is gone. I've never totally experienced this, but I know I've found myself in tears over it several times. And I'm not afraid to admit it. Any time I can think of that I've been driven to tears by music, this is what it triggered.

Posted by: Eventide 16-Aug-2005, 05:22 PM
A healthy dose-- a fear of failure. I've walked the lonely walk--being truly alone, no friends no family and survived. But somehow if I fail at what I attempt in life I think I'd lose my self-respect. It's a part of who I am.

O and Spiders I can handle , but those millipedes and worms..ewwww

Posted by: Rindy 16-Aug-2005, 08:30 PM
I have to say I just thought of another one...

Being burried alive- that freaks me out...

I thought of another one.

Snakes. They give me the creeps, the willies, the chills and the heebie jeebies.

Posted by: Dreamer1 20-Aug-2005, 09:21 PM
Water that I can't see through -- streams, ponds, lakes, rivers, oceans -- there's no telling how deep it is, or what's down there!

Afraid? I am the big bad wolf! evil.gif

I'm also a world class scaredy cat when it comes to thunder and lightning. I do not like thunderstorms at all no.gif .

Ooooooh... that's a shame. I hope you change your mind someday. I adore them! I remember that passage by Elizabeth Thomas in one of her books -- out on the African veldt, she heard a deafening roll of thunder straight overhead, then the boss male of the local pride of lions answered it, like he heard God asking "Where's my lion?" and said "Here am I." I think I would have died of primal awe on the spot.

I am afraid, or at least very wary, of clumps of adolescent males hanging out with nothing to do but impress each other how bad-assed they are.

Posted by: Eventide 26-Aug-2005, 03:16 PM
Here's another...that at the end of a long and fruitful life full of adventure and friendship; I'll forget it all and be struck with Alzheimer's. My grandfather suffered horribly from it, the way it stripped him down...It's a sad sight indeed.

Posted by: cynni 26-Sep-2005, 04:52 AM
One of my fears is saying something stupid. That is why I don't talk or post very much. The other is being alone.

Posted by: Rindy 28-Sep-2005, 09:22 PM
cynni I have never seen you post anything that even resembles stupid- Stop it!!!
Being alone is why I post so much laugh.gif

another fear I thought of is crowds- might have something to do with no population here...but my biggest is spiders- no doubt about it..

OMG, you are absolutely on with that one! My mother died from ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease). That is exactly how you go!

I 've thought about this one for a while: my fear is I will be found out as a fraud! That is, people will discover that I have been faking my way through life, all of this time.

Yow! I hope that doesn't happen.

Posted by: CelticRose 08-Oct-2005, 07:51 AM
Goodness! I have a lot of fears. I am terrified of snakes, scorpions and heights! Spiders don't bother me at all though.

My biggest fear is that I will get some disease where I am incapcitated and family or friends might have to take care of me. I would never wish that on anyone. I also fear losing my husband to death. My dad died at a very early age and I saw how devasting it was to my mother and us kids.

Posted by: anhrefn 08-Oct-2005, 01:44 PM
my biggest fear is fascism. i love birddog's answer about cell phones laugh.gif

Posted by: Rindy 31-Oct-2005, 10:41 AM
OK- Must be Halloween..ha.. I just came face to face with my biggest fear.. I was putting the cover back on the drain in the laundry room and out ran a huge spider....or as we say damhan allaidh--- eeewwww

Eww...I can't stand spiders, though I don't mind bugs or snakes at all. Something about eight legs... fear.gif
Another fear of mine is the thought of a tumor or something eating me up and I'll die within a few years, before I've really done anything worthwhile.

Posted by: Perkeo 07-Dec-2005, 07:26 PM
My biggest fear would be to die alone.

Posted by: CelticRose 08-Dec-2005, 11:34 PM
Perkeo! I kind of have that fear too. To die alone and when I got through the so-called tunnel to eternity..to be alone too! EEP! unsure.gif

Posted by: Perkeo 16-Dec-2005, 07:27 PM
I figure once I die I'll be in Hell with all my friends. wink.gif

But if I go before you I'll make sure to wait for you so you won't be alone. So, you can get over that fear at least. biggrin.gif

my biggest fear is girls.
i cant talk to girls....especially the beautiful and popular ones.
i sweat alot when im near a girl and girls always laugh at me.
i am a boy,and i like girls ! but...i cant...
so...when my friends go out with their girls...
i stay at home and play the dating simulations on the internet..
i also have a crush on a video game character named Emma Emmerich..
i really really want to talk to real girls...!!!
sigh* its a fear that really bothers me... sad.gif

Posted by: snake 29-Dec-2005, 07:37 PM
im also afraid of frogs, i cant believe none of my friends are afraid of them.
i didnt do my science experiment at school, cuz they wanted me to operate a frog !
a big one !!!! my teacher is so mean....sad.gif
also,my nick name at school is snake...
my friends laughed at me, snakes eat frogs...not run away from them! tongue.gif teehee
(btw, snake is taken from my fav. video game,Metal Gear Solid)

Posted by: CelticRose 30-Dec-2005, 12:42 AM
Hey Snake! Many of us have feared the opposite sex for some reason or another. It just take practice being around them and learning social skills. That's just part of life. Watch your friends and how they interact with the girls and learn from them...unless they are jerks....LOL You are very young still and time will come with maturity and when the right gal comes along, it will be natural and no problems! Just dont' try too hard. Just try to be calm and yourself! wink.gif smile.gif

Hey! I don't like frogs either! What's wrong with that? We have some rather big ones where I live! ohmy.gif

I guess my biggest fear is flying.
There is no way I would ever be on a plane unless it's in a coffin. unsure.gif

Posted by: MiLadyCeilidh 11-Jan-2006, 08:52 PM
I have fears of snakes and freeway driving. Yep, you read that right FREEWAY DRIVING. I had a very bad experience once on the freeway and since then I get scared. As for the snakes. I found a snake swimming around in our pool skimmer. I don't remember how I got it out but I remember hacking it to death with a hoe.

I once went out in our garage in the summer evening without turning on the light. I went to pick something off the garage floor and put my hand on TWO SNAKES.

This summer I purposely ran over a snake in our yard with the riding mower.

My biggest fear is the thought of seeing any of my children suffer in anyway.

I have to pray frequently because I would just come unglued if anything bad were to happen to any of my little ones.

God bless them much.

Posted by: Cordelia 12-Jan-2006, 12:32 PM
I'm afraid of spiders and, uh . . . ghosts.

By the way, do any of you go through this? I'm starting to think of seeing a psychologist or something . . .

Sometimes when I'm doing stuff like reading, studying or washing the dishes, I suddenly feel like I'm someplace else, and my mind is blank for a few seconds, and then I see/feel myself doing something, like talking about a particular subject, or catching a falling candle . . . and then I snap out of it. I forget about my experience, and then days later, I really do what I saw myself doing! It really creeps my family out, and it creeps me out, so this is my third fear . . . can anyone tell me if they go through this? Is it normal? sad.gif Thanks.

Posted by: Cordelia 12-Jan-2006, 12:34 PM
I forgot to mention that once I saw myself talking to someone I had never seen before, and a week later, I met him, and he looked exactly like my 'daydream'. That was the creepiest.

If my wife were to die before me (selfish I know) we do everything together I'd be lost and alone. Being eaten alive by anything that would suck
