What is your favorite fragrance?

Posted by: maggiemahone1 25-Jan-2004, 05:46 PM
I use to wear Windsong then switched to Sand and Sable. Now I don't wear any kind of fragrance. Some perfumes give me a headache. I hate to be in a restaurant and someone has on perfume so strong that it seems to get in your food. Ruins my meal.

Old Monkey by Ralph Lauren

*ignoring that peckery!*
I do not use perfume very often but when it's, depending on my mood, either "Booster" by Lacoste or "Woman No.2" by Betty Barclay.

Posted by: kidclaymore 25-Jan-2004, 06:08 PM
I like old spice

Posted by: Annabelle 25-Jan-2004, 06:15 PM
My favorites are Oscar de la Renta and Organza. I like flowered smells. I took a tour of a perfumery down in Rio and I thought me head was going to blow off. All of the smells coming together made me sick.

Musk smells give me a migraine...

Most of the time I like smelling like a french whore! Wee Wee !

I actually prefer after shave to cologne. I like two kinds, one cheap and one expensive. The cheap one I like is Old Spice for sensitive skin. The expensive one is Cool Water.

Posted by: Annabelle 25-Jan-2004, 08:11 PM
I've never heard of Clean for Men or Cool Water. Who makes them?

Hi MDF, Since your back on line I assume you got your puter fixed. Did ya go thru withdrawl while it was being fixed?

Severe withdrawal fear.gif !!!

Cool Water is made by Davidoff. It is a French perfume/cologne company. It is available at just about any mens' fragrance counter in the world.

Dreamer, You are indeed a woman of fine taste!!!! Shalimar is my favorite as well. I asked my husband for some "real" Shalimar for Christmas instead of the plain ol' eu de toilete. He order some in without asking the price lol.gif I think he almost had a stroke when it arrived. It was indeed a nice gesture, tho.

Isn't it wonderful?!? I know what you mean about the price, too. I got very lucky a couple of years ago. My hubby was over in Dusseldorf getting set up for a huge Trade Show - had already been there for 3 months! He came back and got me, took me over there for a week. I got to see everything they'd been working on, meet everyone, do some sight-seeing, and was there for the first few days of the Show. So exciting! Anyway, during one of my sight-seeing forays into the downtown shopping district I wandered down a side street and came across a very small shop with a bottle of Shalimar in the window. I had to go in and ask about it. The man was very nice, went into the back and came out with a small bottle in a gorgeous blue box. The Perfume!, and the price was incredibly low. I thought he'd made a mistake, but he assured me that was right. I bought it on the spot! My husband couldn't believe I'd spent $40.00 for that bottle, until I told him what the same thing cost here! laugh.gif I've used it sparingly for two years, and still have a good part left. Best spontaneous buy I've ever made!

I'm glad you like it as much as I do! Enjoy yours, and give your hubby an extra hug for it. That was nice of him!

La Femme by Jean Paul Gaultier and Boudoir by Vivianne Westwood... last one is very heavy, I don't use it very often... oh and the white Elle by Armani =)
but even better is the black Lui by Armani for men... on any man.. this stuff makes my knees weak!

Posted by: Danann 27-Jan-2004, 03:48 PM
I wear Polo Sport for Women and Clinique's Heart. I've had people stop me in the halls at work asking me what I wear because I smell so good... most are men!

Posted by: Lionel 27-Jan-2004, 06:16 PM
I wear XS for men from Paco Rabane and sometimes Brut de Fabergé !

I bought also a nice perfume in Egypt, Tutankhamon (locally made by a friend who owns a flower farm in the Fayoum and who prepares basic essences for famous perfumes made in France, for example Opium ) !

Hi!

I'm looking through the General Duscussion archives looking for something new/old to talk about. I found this one, and I thought I'd revive it!

I personally like spicy-smelling colognes. My favorites are Old Spice and Pierre Cardin for men. My wife got me a new cologne for Christmas called Mambo. Not sure about it just yet!

Posted by: Rindy1202 27-Dec-2004, 11:28 PM
I like Inis in the sea, and rose, I also love sandlewood and rose, I like Fire and Ice, and Navy. I like a lot of different oils, amber for one, neroli. I could go on and on with the oils. I like to blend them as well. smile.gif

Posted by: Aragorn 28-Dec-2004, 08:53 AM
Brought back from the dead huh WizardofOwls? Hehe, I really like Burberry Brit. Really nice sandlewood smell.

I like the smell of "freshly washed woman". biggrin.gif
I am allergic to most perfumes, so I don't wear any myself and I don't buy it for my owner. I CAN tolerate gardenia fragrence, though.

Posted by: susieq76 28-Dec-2004, 10:26 AM
I'm a Clinique Happy or Happy Heart girl, meself! I also love Bath & Body Works White Tea & Ginger, Peony and Moonlight Path (I think). So de la Renta by Oscar de la Renta is also fabulous!

My favorite is Voice by Peter Hofmann (he is german Operasinger who also sings Rock) but I also like Jean Charles De Castelbajac (Men's fragrance)

But also Stetson and Preferred Stock are on the top of my list.

I prefer mens' fragrance over womens because I like the spicy smell much better. I think it suits me more than any flowery smell.

Posted by: catlynelizabeth 28-Dec-2004, 03:05 PM
I personally were Inis Arose and I like raspberry and vanilla smelling perfumes/ body sprays. I like the floral smell of Inis Arose although sometimes fruity is good too.

Posted by: Avonlea22 29-Dec-2004, 09:16 AM
I just bought my wife Inis (energy of the sea) for Christmas, and we both love it. It says it's for both men and women, but I would never wear it, but it smells just divine on my wife. smile.gif

I personally like Spark for myself.

Any woman wearing Lauren will quickly grab my attention. It reminds me of that time when I . . .

For me I like Old Spice and Drakkar Noir.

But since my sweet bride is migraine-sensitive to smells, neither of us wear any perfumes/colognes.

"Sunflowers" by Elizabeth Arden is my favorite. It is not too strong and not too light. And it is one of the few that doesn't make me gag.
If I want something that makes a bold statement, I go with a little bit of "Red Door" by Elizabeth Arden.
I wish the old women would not wear so much perfume. it makes me gag when I have to check them out at the grocery store!

Good point Maryellen, I too use Red Door but very little. I used to use Sunflower also until I just got tired of it. Have you tried the Fire and Ice?

Happy New Year

I use CK One by Calvin Klein. It's one for men and women. I don't like most women perfumes...I'm with Monarch's Own...I like the men's fragrances better! So, I just compromise and wear a unisex one. biggrin.gif

for myself I like victoria secret's Very sexy for him(dont laugh it smells reeeeeeaaaaaly good)

I wore Polo for the longest time, then did Curve for a bit and now when I wear anything, I wear Boss 6 from Hugo Boss. Sunflowers always makes me think of my high school sweetheart. I don't find many people that wear it anymore but it's funny how I can pick it out of a crowd when someone's wearing it.

If I were to make a fragrance, I'd want something that either smells like freshly mown grass or something a curry scent. I know, it's weird but there's just something about the smell of curry that appeals to me.

Finally, my sole complaint about "good smell 'um stuff" is people that wear too much of it, seems like all the teens I run into, boys especially, drown in it. I always went with subtle application so that people catch the occasional whif of it.

You are so right on that. When I was in high school, there was this one guy whose locker was right next to mine. I think he bathed in Drakkar. Drakkar is a very strong, very expensive cologne. I wore it for about a year. When it comes to fragrances, I'm of the "a little bit goes a long way" mentality. This other guy must've been of the "if a little is good, a lot is better" mentality.

Posted by: CelticRose 04-Jan-2005, 03:30 PM
My hubby and I both are allergic to colognes and perfumes, but I can get away with wearing Happy by Clinique and I absolutely love it. It is very light and I get a lot of compliments when I wear it.

Posted by: MDF3530 04-Jan-2005, 04:21 PM
I have to wear after shave. If I use cologne, I get a rash.

I'm the same way about Channel no. 5.
my first "serious' girlfriend in Highschool wore it and my nose can find it an a room full of sweaty, unwashed pig farmers

The aftershave that I like to put on is called Patrick. I first got a bottle of it when I was in Ireland, but I've since found it here in the States. It reminds me of Ireland only becuase that is where I first smelled it.

My favorites are Cool Water, can't remember who makes it, and Red Door, by Elizabeth Arden.
When I was a teen, it was loves baby magic or something, it was pink, and every girl wore it or musk.

Lil
