Hi everyone!
Someone at this general site suggested I pursue my inquiry here.
What I'm looking for are leather, Celtic (or Irish)-designed braces & greaves. Leather braces & greaves are armor for the lower arms & legs. Ususally medieval or earlier in origin. I've only found one place online that has Celtic designed leather braces...but they don't have any matching Celtic designed leather greaves!

Our family comes from a long line of Irish families...Joyce, Connelly & O'Connor...and my son (Michael) has an intense interest in anything Gaelic, Irish, Celtic, etc. as a result of his family lineage. He also has a great interest in anything of military, armor, swords, histories & chess pieces that are from Gaelic, Irish, Celtic origins. His grey/green-eyed and red-haired appearance makes it pretty obvious what his ethnic origins are. Michael has overcome so many obstacles in his life. He's doing quite well in school & is his schools' number one track & field athlete...despite being born premature, needing a breathing monitor machine and physical therapy, the ADHD and our family history that he's survived. I'm proud of his accomplishments. Now that his 18th birthday is here, I'd like to do something special, unique, for him. That's where the braces & greaves come in. I'd like to find some leather Celtic (or Irish)-designed braces & greaves, (that would fit his measurements of course!) as his birthday gift from his mom, for this milestone special birthday. Though I'm on Soc. Sec. Disability I could afford them as long as they aren't too expensive.

Can anyone help me in my search? I've done an extensive online search myself but I'm open to any suggestions or concrete leads to my inquiries. I'd appreciate it very much if anyone could help me out here. Thank you ever so much for any assistance and/or suggestions any of you all can provide.
sincerely, Ms. Diana

COLOR=DarkBlue]Hi everyone!
Upon the suggestion from Siante(sp?), I'm posting an inquiry here at this site. What I'm looking for are Celtic or Irish-designed leather braces & greaves. Braces & greaves are medieval (and earlier) armor for lower arms & lower legs.

My son (Michael) has a tremendous interest in things military, armor, swords, and histories. I've only found one place online that offers leather, Celtic or Irish-designed braces...but no leather Celtic or Irish-designed greaves! This despite an extensive search!

My family comes from a long history of Irish lines...Joyce, Connelly, O'Connor...and Michael has a great interest in anything of Gaelic, Irish, Celtic origin as a result of that family lineage. Since he's grey/green-eyed and red-haired it's pretty obvious what his origins are. He was born premature & has overcome so many things. Michael's doing pretty well in school & is his high schools' number one track & field athlete...despite his premature arrival, the breathing monitoring machine & physical therapy he needed, the ADHD and our family history that he has survived. For all those things, I'd like to do something special for him. Michael's 18th birthday is here & I'd like to be able to find Celtic or Irish-designed leather braces & greaves as his birthday gift from his mom. I know this paragraph doesn't have anything to do with my quest, my inquiry, but I wanted to give you all some explanations for what I'm trying to do. smile.gif

Can anyone help me with this quest? I've tried everything I can think of, but I'm open to suggestions or concrete leads. Please help me make my son's birthday special for him. Needless to say, I'd appreciate any assistance from any of you at this site here.

Hey Lady: Found your site by accident but your subject halted my own search! The Irish Women are coming to St. Louis sometime this month! I've seen them perform on public TV (PETC? here). Unfortunately being on Soc. Sec. Disability I simply can't afford a ticket, here they're $100.00 & up, I think. I'm relatively new to St. Louis, I moved here from Calif. to escape a domestic violence situation & know no one here, have no family here. So I envy you all who are going with family members to see these so very talented women perform. Their voices are so beautiful in their various pitches, and their gowns/outfits are so lovely too. The woman who plays the violin(?) adds so much to the performances as well. Twice I've been able to catch part of their performances being shown on TV and I was enthralled. I'd never heard of them before I caught them on TV the first time, and I was hooked. Now every day when I get back from attending college classes or tutoring (to my apt.)...for the rest of the afternoon/night I check the public TV channel to see if they're back on TV!! To all of you in the different cities who are going to be able to see these women perform in person....have a great time, and I hope you all have a marvelous, wonderful time!
sincerely,Diana Miller smile.gif
P.S. Oh. What I'm looking for....does anyone know where I can get Irish or Celtic designed, leather braces and greaves? Braces (arms) & greaves (lower legs) are leather armor from ancient times. I've only been able to find one place online who has leather braces with Celtic designs on them...but not any Celtic designed leather greaves. My son has a tremendous interest in military, Celtic, swords & armor from earlier times. And I want to surprise him with these items. So I'm trying to find these particular braces & greaves for his 18th birthday. Can anyone help me out? I'd really appreciate it very much. smile.gif
