Just some things I've noticed over the last few years that I find good to live by. above and beyond the golden rule (and nowhere near as poiniant). Feel free to add to this. I will as I think of more. May even elaborate.

Before you can find the answer, you must first know the question

When you find a goal, list the hurdles between you and that goal, then remain focused and jump them one at a time. If you fail to reach the goal then it was simply not worth the price.

Time won't slow down. Bad times will pass, and you will stand. Good times are imperminant and must be enjoied.

Everything must balance, the cycle left untended, will complete itself.

Of what good is money, if you cannot spend it.

If you try to fail and succeed, which have you done?

O'siyo Shadow,
~ Okay, I know this is a quote but, I had to post my two-cents wine.gif about it tongue.gif
My interpretation of your 'post'~
~ You have failed at true success, lied to others as well as yourself, wasted a talent and succeeded on false pretences...Just my opinion wink.gif

~ Life really isn't a bowl of cherries and I'm not in the pits....And, who says the grass is always greener on the other side? And, who says a lady has to kiss a lot of frogs to get her prince? kwasny.gif
~~What I have noticed is that no matter if we are dealing with cultures, spirituality, friendships, or people and their 'issues' we are all 'Like two peas in a pod'.... tongue.gif More alike than some care to notice whistling.gif

To thine own self be true. Regardless of what the world thinks of you(angel or monster or somewhere in between) as long as you know yourself and you know your truths that is all that matters and that will carry you throughout your journey here.

But, be true ot yourself. As hard as that is sometimes, be honest with yourself never delude, lie or fool yourslef in anyway. Not about others or their intentions, situations, and most certainly not about yourself.

The moment you start to lie to yourself , your journey slows. The moment you start believeing those lies(good or ill) your journey ceases being productive and could stop.

A rather macabre quote I read the other day is also very true.:" The mirror is the stage on which the autopsy begins." Be real be and proud to be real. Be yourself and be proud to be that. Only those that arent proud of themselves try to mimic others. Be an individual not a sheep. They eat sheep.

Love all men as though they were your brothers and all women as though they were your sisters . Love everyone unconditionally . If you do these things you will be rewarded with joy , peace , and contentment and the powers will bless you and your house .

Ignorance breeds hatred . Hatred breeds contempt . Contempt breeds unrest . Unrest breeds violence . Violence breeds death .
Without education there cannot be understanding . Without understanding there cannot be tolerance . Without tolerance there cannot be acceptance . Without acceptance there cannot be love . Without love there cannot be peace .

and thats it for my ramblings here

peace be with you all

We must never surrender to the slippery slope. That we would not sacrifice all at once, we should not sacrefice little by little. As soon as we do, we will keep loosing more over time until we have lost everything, and lost ourselves.

For bad times....all I can say is:

"This too shall pass"

No matter what car you drive, or how fast you go, we will all end up at the same red light.

Tis better for a man to believe himself worse than he is so that he can strive to improve than it is for him to believe he is better than he is and wallow in his own ways.-me

Maybe why it's a good thing to always be our own worst critic?

My wife fills that role for me. biggrin.gif

On a more serious note:

The law of cause and effect is always at work in our lives. When we cause suffering for others, our lives become corrupt and restricted, causing us to suffer and commit more wrongdoing. On the other hand, when we bring joy and happiness to others or prevent suffering and confusion, our lives will improve and expand, causing us to experience joy and happiness and, in turn, prompting us to do more good.

Hinduism refers to it as "karma," what goes around comes around.

If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life.

Buddhism also calls it karma.

The way I heard it was:

If you give a man a fish, he will have dinner.
Teach a man to fish and he will be LATE for dinner. biggrin.gif

I have found telling myself during bad times

"This too shall pass"

Helps immensly. My mother taught me this, and I hold it dearly and firm against my heart! Try it sometime! It really works!!!!

O'siyo Aaediwen,
~ Just my two-cents here wine.gif I believe when one tends to be their 'own worse critic' it brings about pessimism and little room for 'improvement' or 'change'..again, just my two-cents on that quote wink.gif wine.gif

As usual, your "two-cents" are of far greater worth. beer_mug.gif
