Well here it is the first day of June. I'll make it short and sweet. What's your favorite ice cream? Mine is Haagen-Dazs-Coffee "I can't resist it!" Slainte |

Homemade chocolate ice cream |

Oh, now, that takes me back. I used to love maple walnut when I was a kid in New England -- I haven't seen it in New York at all, for 20 years. I think coffee. Providence natives eat more coffee ice cream than anyone else in the country. Ben and Jerry used to make one called "coffee coffee buzz buzz buzz" that hasn't been around for a while -- had dark chocolate covered coffee beans in it. |

Any brand or combination of chocolate & peanut butter . Especially the kind I get from The Plush Horse, an ice cream parlor by me . |
Posted by: ctbard 01-Jun-2008, 03:27 PM
We have a place close by, Shady Glen Ice cream that sells maple walnut, maybe its a New England thing, since I live in New England. |
Posted by: Patch 01-Jun-2008, 04:19 PM |
I can't eat it but it would have to be Butter Pecan!! I can imagine the taste now. Slàinte, Patch |
Posted by: Leelee 01-Jun-2008, 06:39 PM |
I have a great variety that I like depending on my taste....one of them is Coffee Mocha |
Posted by: Ignaty 01-Jun-2008, 07:55 PM |
I like RUM Ice cream made with real rum... the best I ever had was in St. Petersburg, Russia... |

Camac, that's my husband's favorite you should see how he piles up a cone with maple walnut ice cream....disguting I tell you. I even have some pictures of it somewhere. LOA |

As long as it's NOT maple walnut or mint chocolate chip, then what ever is in front of me! |
Posted by: TheCarolinaScotsman 02-Jun-2008, 09:41 PM
I can eat it and I do when ever I have the chance. But it has to be "real" ice cream (milk, cream, sugar, etc.-NO artificial ingredients or corn syrup sweeteners). I will take some hot fudge on top occaisionally. |
Posted by: ogdenmusic 02-Jun-2008, 09:58 PM |
Mint Chocolate chip and plain old Chocolate. |
Posted by: Gwynhwyvar 03-Jun-2008, 05:02 AM |
My homemade favorites - and not all at the same time peach strawberry garlic - yes garlic! Guinness store bought brands - Godiva dark chocolate with Raspberry Mayfield Moose tracks Any "real" icecream that has chocolate and peanut butter with no additives, etc. |
Posted by: stoirmeil 03-Jun-2008, 09:51 AM
OK -- Guinness I've had and it's interesting. How do you make garlic ice cream? You must have to roast it first to sweeten it and tame it. Blackberry ("black raspberry") is another fave from my childhood. |
Posted by: maggiemahone1 14-Jun-2008, 09:15 PM |
I'll have a scoop or two of Chocolate, please! |
Posted by: Rindy 15-Jun-2008, 07:45 PM |
You all are making me really want some ice cream.. Garlic ice cream sounds interesting. Kind of like a tuna fish banana split.... Might be good...how do you know til you try.... Slainte |
Posted by: stoirmeil 24-Jun-2008, 06:18 PM |
I had some rich, thick mango ice cream at an Indian restaurant down in the East Village a few nights ago. They use very heavy cream to make it, almost like it's condensed or something -- and fresh fruit puree -- it's not like the commercial brands. It's the perfect dessert after a spicy tandoori. It was my favorite ice cream in the world at that moment! |
Posted by: Rindy 05-Jul-2008, 04:36 PM |
That sounds so yummy stoirmeil!!! I just had a Oreo Cookie Blizzard from Dairy Queen. I never know what flavor to pick. Any favorite blizzards out there? Slainte |

My favorite is Sweet Woodruff Ice Cream. So far I haven't found it in the USA but in Germany it's pretty common. So glad I am here for now. LOL Otherwise I like mocha / coffee flavors or coconut. |
Posted by: stoirmeil 10-Aug-2008, 01:45 PM |
You want to try making an ice cream sandwich with freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies -- generous with the nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, ginger in the cookie mix -- and put a big dollop of rum raisin ice cream in between. Sort of a Pirate treat. Arrrrggghhh!! (Hey -- we need a real pirate smilie!) |

I really enjoy chunky stuff, but can't really have much anymore because of my asthma. Still, I'm a New Englander, and it's my biggest sweet tooth craving. All time fave is Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey, which is banana ice cream with chocolate chunks and Walnut pieces. I know, I know, I hear the "yuck" response all the time. But oh boy, if I could as much of it as I wanted, I'd probably weigh more! Also on the top of the list is B&J's Coconut Almond Fudge, which I haven't seen lately and don't know if they make anymore. My childhood favorite flavor (pre-commodity ice cream) was pistachio. |

I love my rum raisen! |
Posted by: ranger 30-Aug-2008, 07:47 PM |
I'm not much on ice cream, I usually pass on it. But on the rare occassions, if I have it straight I like Rocky Road. I also like vailla if you mix it with cranberry juice and make a float. Got that from my grandmother. |
Posted by: Ross 30-Aug-2008, 10:51 PM |
I’ve never been much of an ice cream fan either, but we visited the Ben & Jerry’s plant in Vermont a few weeks ago where I did more tasting than I anticipated. I think their 'Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz' would qualify as my favorite. |

I have butter pecan and strawberry cheesecake in my freezer right now makes me want some, gotta go some |
Posted by: Gillian 02-Sep-2008, 11:04 AM |

Posted by: nbailey 05-Mar-2010, 08:33 PM |
It won`t be to long now and it will be ice cream season again for me. Day in and day out, I buy vanilla because you can do so much with it. Rootbeer floats, hot apple pie ala mode or cherry. But then, every once in a while, I have to have peaches and cream. That stuff is so good it`s should be a sin to eat it. |
Posted by: xrowanbraex 06-Mar-2010, 12:39 AM |
Irish cream flavor is my favorite but it's hard to find where I live. Haagen Dazs used to make it but I don't know if they still do. Otherwise, I love mint. |
Posted by: flora 06-Mar-2010, 06:50 PM |
Here is a quick and easy recipe from Nigella Lawson: Who says we have to wait for summer? Margarita Ice cream Ingredients 1/2 cup lime juice 2 tablespoons tequila 3 tablespoons orange liqueur (recommended: Cointreau or Triple Sec) 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar 2 cups heavy cream Directions Pour the lime juice, tequila and orange liqueur into a bowl and stir in the sugar to dissolve. Add the cream and then softly whip until thick and smooth but not stiff. Spoon into an airtight container to freeze overnight. This ice cream does not need ripening (softening before serving), as it will not freeze too hard and melts speedily and voluptuously. Flora |
Posted by: Rindy 24-May-2010, 07:00 PM |
That sounds good flora. xrowanbraex I love any kind of Irish anything. LOL.. I am back in ice cream habit. Crap like every eve go to the ice cream shop- vanilla cone, yesterday was cherry sunday and now just thinking about it is creating that addiction sensation. I am saying no, no! Well here we go again another ice cream season. Slainte |

My favorite is Peach Melba - from Kopp's in Milwaukee. I haven't been up their in years, so I don't know if it is still available, but it was wonderful! A nice peach custard with some peach chunks and a raspberry ribbon swirled throughout! Heaven! |

Gosh, I think all ice cream is delicious! My tastes really depend on the day, but I usually go between Mackinac Island Fudge or Strawberry Cheesecake |
Posted by: tjbren 13-Feb-2012, 07:10 PM |
Let's see... my favorite or my favorites is chocolate mint chocolate chip. The chocolate and mint is a good combo, but the chocolate chips make it a winning combo. |
Posted by: Mariko 16-Feb-2012, 02:19 AM |
I'm definitely a mint chocolate chip person, delicious! Another flavour I really love is moosetracks! |

I don't think I've ever met an ice cream flavor I didn't like even though I'm not much for dessert. Of course you need dairy every day, don't you? My favorite on a really hot day is orange pineapple - nothing more refreshing. |

Anything chocolate, the darker and thicker the better. Bores my poor wife as she tried to get me to try new things, but at least I'm consistent! |
Posted by: ryansgirl 14-Oct-2013, 09:34 PM |
@ Haynes: I agree I love chocolate and think you should live a little and eat desert first. Otherwise you might not have room for that cool refreshing chocolate shake. Or whatever you were in the mood for. I would rather have Hershey's than Godiva or some other expensive chocolate. |
Posted by: macaonghais 17-Feb-2014, 01:53 PM |
I love Ben and Jerry's Vanilla Heath Bar Crunch. Unfortunately, the stores out here don't keep it in stock regually so it is very hit and miss when I can get it.. |
Posted by: MacFive 15-Apr-2014, 06:10 PM |
Eddy's brand icecream is pretty good. I like to mix maybe some Mocha chip with peanut butter chocolate or substitute one of the two with Mint Chocolate chip. Although lately been trying to avoid icecream after getting some blood work done and seeing my dreaded cholesterol number! |
Posted by: thesilverfox09 04-May-2014, 09:58 PM |
The best ice cream around here is Mint Moose Tracks!!! It is sooo good, with big chunks of chocolate in it. I haven't seen it in the Lower 48, maybe Washington State would be the closest, but it's sure popular here in AK |
