Hi all... it has been very cold for the past 5 days here in northern Canada... -48C at night, and warming up to -40C C during the day... There is an end in sight... we are supposed to warm up to -32 C or so tomorrow... Very hard on vehicles in this weather... thus, I walk..easier on me than a vehicle made in the south somewhere or in Japan...

The days are getting a bit longer.... but this time of year, is very tough on a person... dreams of sun, sea and sand ....

Hi everyone... I am using an avatar already in use...what I'm wondering, is where on the net can i find some new ones, and does one just cut and paste? I'm not very savy with much beyond the word processing...thus I don't know much about downloading etc...but I'd gladly change my avatar, if I knew how?

anyone's suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

HI all.... I too love Loreena McKinnot and Mike I have to concur, a couple of my favs are Bonny Portmore" and "Marrakesh Night Market". I experience her song in many different ways,...they quite often evoke some kind of memory or spirit me off to one of these far flung places she visits..

I'm thrilled to hear she is working on a new album...

HI everyone.. sorry to hear the hogmanay celebrations were cancelled! I'm sure everyone made do with house parites etc...

I celebrated New Year's Yukon style...but jumping in the lake with a bunch of friends... We had to cut a hole in the ice and the temp was -35C... it's dropped to -43 at the moment.... Needless to say... it was a challenge but very invigorating.. We had the sauna going about 15ft away from the hole in the ice, so it wasn't too bad... Us Canadians are a bit of a crazy lot... Happy New Year, and all the best to you for 2004!!!

I am descended from the Watson Family in the Peninsula of Kintyre, Argyll County. My ancestors farmed in the area for over 400 years. My great-great grandfather emigrated to Pensylvannia in the mid 1800's. He unfortunately died not long after. His son, Robert Watson moved to the west and married Sarah Anne Cunningham in Nevada and they settled in the Tahoe City. Our family was one the founding families in Tahoe City and a museum was built in a family home along main street. My grand-father left California for the goldfields of the Yukon, Canada.. He met and married my grand-mother, Adela Stone and my mother was born as well as 3 other siblings. That's my very short version of a very interesting and difficult trek from Scoltand to the Yukon!
