Yes, it is much better than IE.

WOOT! CR smile.gif Welcome to the happy Mozilla User's Group smile.gif How are you liking it so far?

You know what my answer will be smile.gif Considering I just changed my main browser from Mozilla 1.5a to Mozilla Firefox .10

Ya know something I find interesting though? This browser has got to have gone through the longest list of name changes... 3 so far. From Phoenix, to Firebird, to Firefox.

Looking forward to hearing how you like it smile.gif

Mozilla Firefox is my ONLY browser. I've even installed it over IE on my work computer (much to the dismay of the IT folks).

Get yourself a handful of good extensions (helpers) and you're ready to surf.

I'm running Firefox on Xandros OCE (Linux). I haven't used IE in over 3 years, or Windows in over 2. Linux rules, Windows drools. Firefox rocks, IE. . .well, you know.

I was using Netscape, then switched to Mozilla and now I'm using Firefox. I have never seen a browser I like better. Nice graphics rendering, speedy and I love the mouse gestures. Very kool!B)

I had a whole nice post typed here, then I figured it was getting off topic and more technical than need be. When I start pasting timestamps to show when I built by system into a thread saying Firefox rules, it's time for a new thread. I've used many browsers in my time. IE 2-6, Netscape 3.04 - 7, Links, lynx, amaya, tried opera, Mozilla, Phoenix, Firebird, and now Firefox. Firefox is now my primary browser, and I'm not looking back.

I switched about a week ago. Took a llittle bit of getting used to but the difference is night and day. Almsot no lag time, virtually NO pop ups. I like the open in a new tab optin. love the security. Great prog.
Now..WHo do I ask about Linux?

QUOTE (urian @ 14-Oct-2004, 11:02 PM)

Now..WHo do I ask about Linux?

How comfy are you with a command line? Something pretty to start with? RedHat or Mandrake. Want to dive off the deep end and still have some help? Debian or Slack. Uber fast learner who's not afraid to drawn a few times before you swim and want complete control over every little thing? Gentoo or LFS.

I don't recommend the last two for first time Linux users. I tend toward the first two actually. They were my introduction. Redhat in perticular has gotten really graphical since I started in Linux 1n 1998. Feel free to PM for details, or we can start a new thread wink.gif Wouldn't fit to go in any more detail here.

ok, generally things that start out like this can go anywhere from simple to a real bear to troubleshoot. Before we can find out though, first question to ask is:

How does it crash? Can you be specific at what happens when? Exact error perhaps?

well, the computer just crashes! I mean it just goes dead and has to reboot itself when I am in the middle of something! It will say "there has been an error in Firefox and we must shut down now." How plain is that?! Sorry........... I am a little aggravated right now, very sorry! smile.gif

ok, Firefox generates a standard Windows error, then the machine reboots. Sounds like a library fubar'd somewhere at first glance. You said you installed it first after IE started actring wierder than ususal, right? We might be able to work around this, I may experiment with cross compiling and see if I can build a static binary of it... See if that helps. Not sure what's involved in doing that though. Never built a Windows program that I didn't write.

Thanks Aaediwen! Sorry to be such a pain. I really like the program, but my computer just keeps crashing whenever I install it. sad.gif Someone told me that Firefox was very buggy right now and not a good time to install it. Is that true?
