On a point of note: The Inquisition developed through the Judicial system of the Roman Catholic Church to expose and punish the heretical behavior and attitudes of Catholic adherents which branched off away from the mainstream Catholic Church, (Franciscans and Cathars come to mind here) and did not generally concern themselves with those outside their religious sphere of influence.

Here we have the Episcopal Inquisition 1184-1230, the Papal Inquisition in the 1230's giving way to the most infamous Spanish Inquisition of the late 15th century, the Portuguese Inquisition in the 16th century and then the Roman Inquisition of the 16th and 17th centuries which as you may recall, prosecuted and imprisoned Galileo. The second time for life for stating that the earth was round and not flat and that the sun was the center of the universe...

Then you have the Inquisition emanating from northern Germany that gave rise to the horrendous and equally asinine witch hunts which eventually found their way the shores of North America, Salem to be specific. In Germany, witches were blamed for such uncontrollable events as the harsh weather cycle known as the little ice age, failure of crops, decimation of livestock, disease and of course, the plagues. These witch hunts were directed in large part mainly towards women because they were seen as being in possession of and controlled by insatiable carnal lust...Check it out for yourself, you can't make this stuff up...

I do not recall at any time during Jesus' life here on earth that He ever exhorted debasing or defiling his enemies, of masticating cultures or peoples into oblivion.

On the contrary, GOD will forgive all who truly repent. As JESUS did while suffering on the cross, LUKE 23:34 Then said Jesus, "Father forgive them; for they know not what they do." And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. And how many times shall we be forgiven? Luke 17:4 "And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day return to thee, saying, I repent; thou shall forgive him." And not just seven times; Matthew 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, "I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven."

These so-called Christian crimes of The Crusades and the Inquisitions are not crimes of GOD or of Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of GOD according to Colossians 1:5 Who is the image of the invisible GOD, the firstborn of every creature... These crimes are the crimes of men, not the crimes of GOD or JESUS. Criminal acts perpetrated on mankind by mankind, by men who acted in the name of God or stated that it was the will of God.

As all true Christians know, to commit crimes and acts of violence in the name of God or by invoking the will of God is a sin and in direct violation of the Ten Commandments (also known as the Decalogue). Exodus 20:1-17 and again in Deuteronomy 5:6-21. Specifically, the 4th Commandment: that you shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord, your GOD. There is no forgiveness for those heinous creatures involving the Lord in their abominations, for JESUS said in Matthew 12:31 "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."

"for I have sworn upon the alter of god eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." inscribed under the dome of the Jefferson Memorial, Washington D.C.
