I ask that everyone that visits here in this forum please pray for 13 miners that are trapped in a mines in Upshur Co. WV. This hits close home, as I come from a long line of coal miners. I have 2 sons-in-laws that are coal miners. One just started in the mines about 3 weeks ago. Please pray for all that are involved in the rescue that they will be safe and be able to get to these men that are trapped. I can't imagine what these people must be going thru. My heart goes out to all....

Thanks so much!

MaggieM,
When did this happen?? I hadn't heard. Prayers are being said, for everyone involved. May they be rescued safely and quickly! We also have family members who've worked in the mines, on Hubby's side-even my hubby did when he was younger. What a terrible ordeal the families are going through now. sad.gif My heart goes out to them all.

Maggie -- I've been praying and holding my breath since I heard the news report. For the men, for the wives and children, for the girl whose intended huband is down there, for the man whose son was due to follow him into the mine on the next shift. I know it's a life and a livelihood, and I know these are proud and skilled workers, but I wish there were some other way to cover the need for what they go underground for, and that they never needed to risk their lives this way again.

I'm on it...it's close to home here too. I come from a *long*, long line of coal miners too, and my g-g grandfather was killed in one in 51. This is all coal country up here. I hate this..you'd think with modern technology there'd be no more need for things like this. Yeah, yeah...I know better...::sigh::

The body of one miner has been found, I'm still hoping and praying for a miracle for the 12 that are left.

Dreamer1, the mining explosion happened early yesterday morning after the mine had sit idle for a few days due to the holidays.
Mining is a hard life but it's a way of life here where I live. Now the industry is booming and there is a need of coal miners.

Thanks so much for your prayers and please keep praying. It's good to know that you folks understand what these people are going thru.

Oh Maggie,

I'm so sorry. I heard the news this morning as I was waking up. My heart is with the families who've lost their fathers, brothers, husbands, sons, uncles....God be with them.

How incredidbly painful, the way this turned out. The families need all our thoughts and wishes even more, because of the way they received the news and the traumatic reversal of their hopes. I hope now that they don't get caught up in the terrible blame game I'm afraid is going to commence, because that will enter into their grieving process like a permanent blight. God be with them and protect them all.
