Celtic Music News is a weekly Celtic music program available as a download or podcast. The program plays three or four songs with commentary between. The mix runs to the Celtic Rock side of things with some traditional, especially jazzed up versions of traditional songs. Featured artists include
  • Deep Blue Sea
  • Enter the Haggis
  • Black 47
  • Spirit of the West

The program is done by Aaron Drake, who seems to know the music, in his apartment. Aaron doesn't have an ASCAP license, so he has gotten permission from the artists directly to use their music on his webcasts.

It is an alternative to CR, especially when I can download the podcast to my iPod and take it with me to listen to anywhere, which I can't do on CR.

I was just visiting Celtic Music News today.

Yes, excellent website and what a great idea.

I'd like to encourage the sharing of different Celtic Music websites and Internet Radio Stations. There are always plenty of listeners to go around and it is my belief that the more Celtic music websites you visit, the more variety you will hear.

In fact, within a number of months CelticRadio.net will be releasing a brand new website called "CelticMusicRadio.com" which will have a growing directory of websites all related to Celtic Music Internet Radio!

Live 365.com has a few celtic radio stations. Check them out. Nothing compares to this one though.

Hey all,
This is Aaron Drake from the Celtic Music News site. Thanks for the kind words.
If anyone is wondering my old computer died which is why there was no podcast this last week, the new computer arrived yesterday, so I'm getting back up to speed.

Just an FYI on artists. Deep Blue Sea isnt one, but there are a bunch of others as well, and the list is growing....

I will be having more special shows as well. If the planning works out I may be able to announce one soon, and it will be BIG and VERY VERY cool.

A couple things to ask you all...
If anyone is an artist and would like their music played, let me know.
If anyone has any requests for artists let me know as well, the first requested artist will be played on the next show.
If anyone has any ideas for the show let me know.
And if anyone wants to help or participate also let me know

I am working out a lot of ideas to expand at the moment.

Thanks all, I hope to hear from you,
Aaron

Thanks for stopping by Aaron! Looks like you are on the cutting edge of technology - from what I read this ipod casting is really up and coming!

It's great to hear you are having success with the Celtic genre - definitely this is good for Celtic music all around!

I might try your ipodcaster soon. Santa was good enough to leave an iPod under the tree for me this year, but I have just begun to explore the features.

I think I am ahead from you
because I already know how to use pda to listen streaming radios through GPRS
FYI, other CR, I also listen to Liveireland, Celticgrove, Clanandrumma, WFUV (they have great Celtic program weekends), and BBC Scotland (they have Scottish-Celtic program Sat evening, ET)
