Hey hey I know most of you wont think this is a "cool" pet but I got a fish! It's Called a Oscar Cichlid. have any of you heard of this type of fish? They are called the "Dog" of all fish its like having a dog...you can pet it , train it tricks and this type of fish can recognize each individual person and hide when complete strangers come into the house. He has a reddish backround with striped on him hes A tiger oscar. Their are also red oscars , albino oscars , gold oscars. They get nearly 12 inches long. So i'll probably need a bigger tank at some point. In just 6 months they can get half the size they will be at adult. They are great for begginners too! Their very hearty fish. But very messy and love to eat. My oscar was darting up to the top of my tank and eating the bubbles or atleast trying to lol!

-everyone! Tell me about your fish if you have any!! biggrin.gif

Fish are great!!! I love them... my family thinks I am crazy, but I have alot of fun watching them. I have a 10 gallon tank with danios, a Chinese algae eater, various tetras, and an upside-down catfish... they are really cool. Whenever I have my own place (and some money) I would like to have a Chiclid tank, I like all of the colors and patterns that they come in...
I used to ba a pretty active member on www.fishfourms.com , but I have slacked off of that community now. Fish Fourms - check it out though, there are alot of very knowledgable people who post there!

All of the fish in my family were sort of suicidal (one even jumped out of its temporary bowl down the drain as we were cleaning the tank), except for this one goldfish that ended up living for 5 years. My dad and I have always wanted a huge wall tank though filled with tropical fish, and another smaller one just containing jellyfish (I find them so hypnotically beautiful). Every time we visit an aquarium we always end up sitting in front of those huge tanks for hours. I have done a bunch of snorkeling, and there is nothing more amazing than just floating and watching this cascade of colour swirling around below you (Captain Cook's Memorial in Hawaii is amazing). There is nothing like turning around underwater and coming face to face with a 3 foot wide sea turtle. Just out of curiosity, where do you guys think is the best place in the world to go snorkeling?

My daughter has a betta named Jasper T. McBonyparts (smile.gif) He's a lovely burgundy color and very little upkeep. Just have to change his water once a week and feed twice daily. If you're very quiet after you feed him you can actually hear him scrunching his food!

Normal is a relative term. For some reason it is not a term my relatives use to describe me.

A betta is also known as a Siamese Fighting fish. My son has one, and we also like to hear him crunch his food. biggrin.gif

I also have a Blind Cave Tetra that we've had for 8 years!!! He just won't die! I have him in a one gallon fish tank that hasn't been cleaned in years, but he keeps it clean himself. I was going to change out the water a couple weeks ago, but my husband told me not to because it would probably kill him...hehe. I call him my miracle fish. wink.gif
