After floating around this site for awhile, looking at all the diversity amongst the members, reading the many posts, and the quotes attached to the various members, it struck me that with all of the intelligence available hear, that evryone should have a favorite quote or two. Anyone mind sharing? Here's one:

"Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." - Aldous Huxley

Dear Lord, lest I continue in my complacent ways, help me to remember that someone died for me today. And if there be war, help me to remember to ask and to answer "am I worth dying for?" - Eleanor Roosevelt

The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.

I'll look for a couple of really great ones but until then:

"If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you." D. Reader

A pine wood is just as real as a pigsty - and a darn sight pleasanter to be in. - L.M. Montgomery

Compassion is the sometimes fatal capacity for feeling what it is like inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too.

If society prospers at the expense of the intangibles,
how can it be called progress?

oooh many many... I will put them all up on my website one it's finished... but my favourite is actually a short poem by Emily Dickinson:

Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me.
The Carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality

My Favorite is

"He who hesitates is lost" John Paul Jones, Father of the USNavy

Annabelle

I would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy.
When the going gets tough, the weird turn pro.
There are only two levels, and one is above you.
If your brain was in the eye of a fly, it would rattle around like a BB in a box car.

Mine should be easy, my Favorite was given to me by my Doctor several years ago.

"For every day you fish, you live another day."

This does not mean that I will live forever but for every day that I am out fishing, I am living that day. wink.gif

Gaberlunzie,

You don't have to keep the fish if you do not want but one thing I can guarantee is that if you ever do decide to try it, and like it. You will be hooked for life. tongue.gif

oops.gif Did I just do another bad pun? rolleyes.gif
