Doesn't it just make ya sick how much you have to pay for a gallon of gas or liter of Petrol?
What's the price in your area?

Right now in the middle Georgia area we are $1.89 per gallon and $1.59 for diesel. Last weekend people were telling me they are paying as much as $2.10 per gallon....

So what's it going for in your area? How does it make you feel that you have to pay that much for gas?

Today in Michigan the low in the state is $2.02 and the high is $2.31 a gallon. Since a lot of my activities involve driving to other locations, gas prices are making me choose my destinations a little more carefully. I try to get the most out of the trips I make, but I still make them.

I'm involved in a hobby called Geocaching and on our Michigan Geocaching webpage we have the current daily gas prices posted. It helps to know what I can expect as I race across the state in search of these hidden "treasures".

Primium is $2.05 in Okla.

This is a question I hate, and heres why.
If there is a store or product that people or I don't like and wish to boycott, that's fine, I'm sure I kand find another store, product, or do without. but gasoline is a bit different in this regaurd. Now I'm not saying that the rising cost doesn't irritate me, just like rising taxes, or utilities. Not much you can about them. I suppose we can all go buy scooters, or bicycles, or horses. But, if you want to drive your car.... Belly up to the pump, pay the man and move along.
I just feel this arguement is a waste of energy.
And you think we whine, I'd really like to see what people are paying in europe!!!

Oh, you have it good down south. In the Detroit area the average for regular is $2.13. If you go to Meijer (Michigan based store similar to Wal-Mart) you can get it for less. I haven't seen 1.89 for about a month here.

In Southwest, Ohio it is averaging about 2.08 per gallon.
The average price per liter in the UK is 80p. The exchange rate for the American dollar( as of last Friday the 14th) is $1/ £1.782. Making one gallon of petrol around £3.60 or about 6.73, American. There are roughly 3.7853 liters per US gallon. We have nothing to complain about.....And if it is a problem then buy a more fuel efficiant car or car pool, or ride a bike..... wink.gif

Correction I changed the liters/gallons, which also changed the pricing...Thanks, Leo... cool.gif

I was in Chicago last Thursday and Friday with my daughter and her 5th grade class. I saw gas going for $2.30. Ouch! Hasn't gotten that bad here yet.

Republic of Panama, out here in the interior 1 US Gallon is running at 2.45.

Just one incidental correction however, there are about 3.7853 liters per US gallon.

Public busses went on strike today, mostly in Panama City, but also some out in the interior over the disparity between the rise in fuel prices and the bus fares being frozen in place.

$2.19/gallon when I was at the pumps yesterday

Prices have been kept artificially low in the states for a very long time. We are just now catching up to the rest of the world. They will never go down to below$2.00 again I feel. If you feel you need to drag your 150 pound butt around in a 5000 lbs. SUV, it will cost you. king.gif

Fortunately, Saudi Arabia has announced that they will increase production 20%. OPEC hasn't consented to this accross the board, though. Venezuela said there is no way they will increase production. I don't know how much we get from them, but at least having the Saudis increase production may help.

That is worth about 3 cents per gallon at the pump king.gif

Artificially Low???.....what are you talking about Peckery... are you off your Monkey Meds??

Just because the rest of the world has been paying to much to the oil cartels over the years and seems okay with it is no indication that the prices are artificially low.

It's a racket just like insurance. Anything that can be done to jack the rate will be done legitimate or not. If the oil companies (or their middle eastern counterparts) were not making fat enough margins previous to the recent rate hikes, they would have gone out of business long ago. (and their private jets would have certainly disappeared)

If people quit using as much fuel as a result (like in 1975) the prices would come back down. I know how these guys think (just like my sales manager rolleyes.gif )

They would have been better served to just keep edging the prices up rather than to manufacture their lame excuses for sudden rate increases.

How does it make me feel???? It makes me want to kill them with a chainsaw. (nothing personal unsure.gif )

Peace

After converting from litres to U.S. gallons and Canadian currency to U.S., the gas here in Ottawa, Ontario is around $2.57 US per U.S. gallon today.

Posted by: Annabelle 24-May-2004, 04:56 PM
Ouch! $2.57 I would think we all need to try to slow down and stay closer to work and home. Try not to go as much show OPEC we don't need their stinkin oil that bad.

I saw today the Gas was down to $ 2.03 so I stopped and filled up. Friday, it was up to $ 2.19. And that was for the 87 Octane.

I do not mind the cost of Gas going up, it is just when it jumps in large increments that really upsets me. dry.gif

Does anyone know what the cost of Gas was at this time last year and what percentage it went up to today's rate?

Check out the following link: http://www.ghg.net/stuart/gasprice/gasprice.html

Also consider the following:
- Vick's Nyquil costs $178.13 per gallon
- Pepto Bismol costs $123.20 per gallon
- Scope Mouthwash costs $84.48 per gallon
- Brake Fluid costs $33.60 per gallon
- Diet Snapple costs $10.32 per gallon
- Gatorade costs $10.17 per gallon
- Lipton Ice Tea costs $9.52 per gallon
- Imported beer costs $8.67 per gallon
- Imported bottled water costs $7.50 per gallon
- Cranberry juice cocktail costs $6.65 per gallon
- Soda/soft drinks cost $5.33 per gallon
- 1% fat milk costs $2.65 per gallon

When you buy a gallon of gasoline, what are you paying for?
- Cost of crude oil is about 42% of the price.
- Federal and state taxes make up about 29% of the price.
- Refining costs and margins is about 16% of the price.
- And all other distribution and marketing costs are about 13% of the price.

If you're willing to modify your car to run on alcohol, I know a fellow that will supply it for $1.25 a fifth. biggrin.gif

The lowest I have seen it is $2.06 here where I live in WV. My hubby and I are seriously thinking of buying a motorcycle.

I'm running my F250 diesel on the road more cause diesel is at $1.59 per gallon. I parked the Lincoln even though it gets 27mpg. Too expensive. I've got an old 91 Taurus I can run if I have to.

US oil companies have deals with the OPEC nations that state if you sell the crude to us at this low price per barrel then we promise to buy X amount of crude from you. OPEC to protect it self has established limits of production. That leaves the door open for non OPEC countries to sell their crude at what the market will bear, pushing up the mean average of crude, causing prices of gas to go up. tongue.gif king.gif

Posted by: Annabelle 25-May-2004, 04:47 PM
It called the cause and affect clause....
if you slow down production and only release so much it drives up the cost.

Like the Opec cartel doesn't have enough money?
