The most famous 'Gathering' in the world is held in early September every year at Braemar in Scotland. The site below states that the gatherings are of fairly recent origin..... the first was held in 1816!!!! Still I suppose 'fairly recent' is all a matter of perspective. wink.gif

When I was a girl I was a highland dancer and competed in most of the major games in Scotland... The highlight was always Braemar. The surroundings are wonderful and if you'd like to see what the countryside is like, click on some of the links on the site. There are a lot of good distilleries in the area ... well worth a visit!

Hmmmmm, I'm not sure about that, Barddas.... I think it must be 'closed' - the season for the Games usually finishes in September each year. Maybe it's down for updating?
