One of the local newspapers, the Chicago Tribune, is taking nominations for the "seven wonders of Chicago". It got me thinking, what are seven wonders of your areas.

The rules:
1. It has to be in your metropolitian area (or the nearest one if you live out in the boondocks).
2. No people. Only objects.
3. It has to be currently in existence. If your favorite place went up in flames last night, it doesn't count.

Here are mine for Chicago:

1. Longwood Drive in Beverly.
2. The highest natural point in Cook County, which is at the intersection of 87th Street and Western Avenue.
3. Lake Shore Drive.
4. Sears Tower.
5. Marshall Fields (State Street).
6. The "L".
7. The burgers at Top Notch Beefburgers on 95th Street.

One of my pics got ruled out by the 'in your Metro area' rule, which I'll consider the Lexington Metro area

Farms along 627 between Winchester and Paris

Berea certainly seems recognised enough

UK (For the international members here, University of Kentucky, not 'The UK')

Martin Castle in Versailles (Although, yes, it burned to the ground recently as can be proven in a Google search, the outer wall was untouched and the central complex is being rebuilt, AFAIK. Hence, the landmark survives)

The Red Mile

Did I mention huge farms with big houses?

Can't include the Gorge or Natural Bridge since they're not really what I would consider in the metro area

1.Stanley Park
2.English Bay and all the surrounding beaches
3.Grouse Mountain
4.Yaletown and all the trendy bars
5.Robson St. (shopping mecca of fashion)
6.Sky Train to Metrotown
7.Grandville Island Public Market

scroll down to the bottom of the page and refresh it for an update. You are looking at the English bay, Stanley Park is to the right, Vanier Park and just beyond is Kitsilano to the left. That is the Burrard Bridge and if you see boats moving towards it they are entering False Creek. Enjoy!
