Celtic Radio App, Our own App

Because of our successful fund raising event and the continued support of listeners and members, we have decided to finally produce our own App for Android, iPhones and HTML 5.

We will have more details soon, but the App will most likely be called "Celtic Radio" or "Celtic Radio Network" and will be available in the App store or the Google Play store.

It will feature integration with our music channels and will be the preferred easy to use method to listen to our channels on Celtic Radio. Channels will have album cover artwork and current song.

Development time is going to be quick, we expect to have it available within a few weeks time.

Here is a sneak peek of the App design. We are going to have some social media, maybe chat room and a few other goodies too.

We understand once the app goes live it will show the album cover, song title and should play in Android and iPhones. Might be a few weeks.

This is all directly related to our fund raising drive this year. We purchased a lifetime membership for this app through AppyPie which is a great system for developing Apps.

Good news, the Celtic Radio Network App (1st version) is built and completed.

We are in the process of submission to the Google Play Store and the iTunes App store. Here are the times it takes for approval:

Google Play: 2-3 Days
iTunes App Store: 14-15 Days, but current time is 4 days.

The App will be called the "Celtic Radio Network". Our Yellow Celtic Triangle will be the App's logo. This App will be a free download that is supported by our listeners and members.

Features:

• Listen to all 4 of our channels.
• Song Title, Artist and Album Cover.
• Contact, Call Us, Basic Info about Celtic Radio.
• Chat Room.
• Mobile Website Links in App.
• Facebook and Photo Sections.

The Chat room is a very nice feature and it remembers your name as well as a photo or avatar if you wish to upload. Our 6 mobile websites are available in-App. The Tune-In player works great displaying the album cover, song title and artist.

We will be supporting this app got a long time, so expect updates to happen every so often.

I am so EXCITED to hear this!! I can now hear my favourite music on the go!! Right now I can only tune in on-line on my computer at work and at home. Oh I am STOKED!!!! Thank you so much Celtic Radio, you are the BEST of the BEST!!!

Glad to hear the positive feedback, hopefully once the app is released it will be something people like to use.

We checked with the current turn around time for Apple and they are running at 4 days for approval, so by next weekend the App could be available in both the Google Play store and the App Store (Apple).

Looking ahead we have a lot of features that we could build out with our App Development environment as we go along. Such as memberships, audio submission, requests and more.

And this is all possible due to our fund raising drive this year, so thank you once again for all of the members that helped meet our goal. Hopefully this will bring more new members into the mix.

Good news, the Android version of our "Celtic Radio Network" App is now listed in the google play store.

We are waiting for Apple to approve the App for their store. We expect by the end of the week. Additionally we will be submitting the App to:

• Windows
• Blackberry
• Amazon Kindle

We are in the processing of signing up for developer accounts with those services, so it may not be until next week once they are submitted for their approval process.

So check out the app and give us some feedback. We are keeping it very simply for now. There is no cost for the App (it is free) and their is no banner advertising within the App.

There is a nice little chat room that we are hoping might be a mobile way for listeners to communicate.

Future releases will probably include a way to look up songs and to make requests in app.

Finally it has happened. Thanks to all that financially supported our fund raising event this year that made this happen. We couldn't have done it without you!

We are still working on Apple approval and Windows approval. Blackberry approval will take several days.

Once we have all of the apps approved, we will be updating our website with the links to the Apps. Our mobile website will also change with the preferred way to listen through our app rather than a player on the mobile website.
