Hi Group

I wanted to raise this story up and ask several pointed questions. Bare in mind I posted this on another forum for different reasons so if something sounds weird like angry wise just bring it to my attention and I'll check it out was defending my knowledge over someone who made a big goof by her rude comments. Namely she didn't know who she was bashing before she opened her mouth and inserted her own foot. biggrin.gif

Hiroshima was a military town not a military base. On August 6, 1945 there were approximately 350,000 people in the city that day that includes more then 40,000 military personel. This figure also includes about 8,400 children that were working on demolition to create fire breaks for when we the Americans started bombing the city to help prevent the spread of fire.

At 8:15 AM the bomb was dropped and exploded approximately 1,740 feet (580 meters) above the hypocenter. 2/3 mile (1KM) from the hypocenter every living person outside was burned to death by the 3,000 - 4,000 degree heat. Everyone not just military personel even people who were as far away as 2 miles (3.5 KM) suffered burns. 30 Minutes after the explosion fire broke out all over the city.

The shockwave and blast of the explosion expanded at a rate of approximately 1,320 feet (440 meters) per second. Every wooden building within a radius of 1 1/4 miles (2 KM's) was blown away.

As for the radiation effects well I will let you look into that if you wish as only way to show you would be to actually show you images which are not appropriate for this forum if for no other reason then children present and even grown ups should not have to see such images.

OK I decided to do this here but I must warn you this is definately look at your own risk as these images are very very graphics in nature (For you sickos they aren't porn go elsewhere) but these are images of what happens to the human body when a bomb of this nature is dropped. As I said Look at your own risk and stomach!!!!!!!

So lets talk casulties shall we. As I said approximately 350,000 people in town that day. 40,000 or more were military personel. I will even grant you as high as 50,000 military just so you have the benfit of the more. That leaves a total of 300,000 civilians in town that day approximately. of those civilians approximately 1/3 were dead by the end of December 45, 90,000 (+/- 10,000) 90,000 - 100,000 civilians dead. Not civilian military help but civilians just going about their daily lives trying to survive during wartime.

Now do you think our former leaders figured the bomb would just ask all these civilians to step out of the way of the blast the first the heat and radiation???

Now lets see what international law has to say about our attacks.

(cool.gif WAR CRIMES: namely, violations of the laws or customs of war. Such violations shall include, but not be limited to, murder, ill-treatment or deportation to slave labor or for any other purpose of civilian population of or in occupied territory, murder or ill-treatment of prisoners of war or persons on the seas, killing of hostages, plunder of public or private property, wanton destruction of cities, towns or villages, or devastation not justified by military necessity;

how is killing nearly 100,000 civilians, militarily neccessary???user posted image

The same charter goes on to add

QUOTE
C) CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY: namely, murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian population, before or during the war; or persecutions on political, racial or religious grounds in execution of or in connection with any crime within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, whether or not in violation of the domestic law of the country where perpetrated.

If you don't think dropping a bomb of this nature onto a heavily populated city with such reprecussions is not both wanton and inhumane you really need to take a look at the images then ask yourself if what we did was right or wrong. I doubt you would say it was right.

What we did was considered a war crime yet to date we have not been held accountable for our inhumane actions. If we don't hold our currently leaders responsible for their actions we are bound to repeat history all over again. Maybe my grandparents were afraid to hold Truman and his people accountable but I won't make the same mistake I will stand up and hold our leaders accountable for their actions against humanity!!! user posted image

To learn more on this and for you home schoolers don't skip over this chapter of history. Teach your children so we never forget the horrible effects of a weapon we first developed.

There's a link for English at the top of the page
