Do you have a Favorite Saint? And if so, what Saint and why.

My favorite is St. Francis, because he looks after animals

Saint Florian, the patron of firefighters (as I once was and always will be a leatherlung), and Saint Anthony of Padua, who is my name saint.

I like Saint Francis, as well, always taking my search dog(s) to be blessed on Saint Francis' feast day.

Just my tuppence.

I have always had a fascination with St. Joan of Arc [Jehanne d'Arc or Darc in medieval French]

I do not know why I do but I like what she stood for.

The archangel St. Michael patron saint of paratroopers, carried his medal for 5 years and I suppose it worked, but I did have a friend who carried a piece of a HMMWV that burned in from 1000 feet (he figured the chute that carried it didn't work and it would be unlikely for it to happen again.) I gave the medal to my brother just before he went to Iraq, he lost it on the night they hade a large tank battle. They had a T-72 on the ass of their Abrams at less than 500 yards, he said it was probably used up that night.

I too am a Jeanne d'Arc fan. (Forgive me, folks of French ancestry, but I've always thought of her as the feminist saint.)

Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow
Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

My favorite saints:

Peter: The rock on which Jesus built the Church.
Isidore the Farmer: My mother grew up on a farm.
Michael the Archangel: who I was named for.
Thomas More: patron saint of public employees (which I used to be)
Mary & Joseph: parents of Jesus.

Mary and Joseph are right up there for me too. Good choice.
I also like Saint Simone's Island. Does that count? The play land of the rich and fabulous beautiful darling!
St Patrick for obvious reasons and I look good in green. Helps to make my green eyes stand out better.
Michael cause he was God's right hand angel in heaven. He's the head angel except one other angel and I forget his name? Have to look it up.
