I was looking at the language threads and realized there wasn't one for Galician (although if I remember correctly it is also called something else). I'm thinking of trying to learn this language and was wondering if anyone else was interested or who already knows the language and could help?

Here are some websites I found:
http://www.usc.es/~ilgas/galician.html
http://www.galego.org/english/index.html
http://www.omniglot.com/writing/galician.htm
http://www.edu.xunta.es/galingua/
http://e-galego.cesga.es/inicio.htm

Unfortunately a lot of these are in Spanish, and I'm still trying to learn that! So all help would be very VERY appreciated..

This is a little late, but I just joined and I've been trying to learn Gaelic as well.

I googled and searched for classes in my area, but I came across This. If you select Irish you can download it free, and it's actually pretty cool. I don't know if it's the sort of thing you're looking for, but I hope it'll help.

I speak Portuguese, and the two languages are mutually intelligible. One can communicate without any problems at all. The language is closer to Portuguese than to Spanish, although there are some Castillian influences in it. Just watch out you don't get confused when you're trying to learn Spanish and Galician at the same time! biggrin.gif

If you want a bit of practice, you could PM me in Galician and I'll write back in Portuguese.

Are you interested in learning Spanish even?

I hope I'll help you -- I'm Spanish! But I don't have any idea about Galician... what's a pity!
