I was going to post this on Remembrance Day but I received an E-Mail from Celtic Radio that my subscription cancellation is about to take effect so I have decided to post this early.

To-day is Remembrance Day. At precisely the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, in the year 1918, 92 years ago, the guns fell silent and 4 years of unimaginable slaughter, “The Great War” ended. The Charnel House of the Western Front would close. The ravaged land would heal and the next years’ harvest would be bountiful for having been fertilized by the bodies of hundreds of thousands of young men. This was the First World War, the Great War, the War to end all Wars . It was, unfortunately as History has shown, merely the prelude, the opening paragraph of a much greater conflict that would erupt like a putrid boil 21 years later and plunge the world into six more years of death, destruction, and genocide on a scale never witnessed before.

This day is also known as Armistice Day, Poppy Day, and Veterans Day and is commemorated throughout the Commonwealth to remember and honour those who
served and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Here in Canada it is Remembrance Day and it is commemorated in every city, town or village through out our land. It honours all who heeded the call to arms in time of national peril or to maintain peace in our troubled world and remember those who never came home. From the Great War until the present 109,716 of Canada’s sons and daughters have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Most sleep in the fields of France and Belgium, Sicily and Italy, Hong Kong, and Korea and though their remains maybe far from home their spirit isn’t. It is here still standing guard over “The True North“. It is here in the hearts and minds of every Canadian who loves freedom. It is a debt that can never be repaid only honoured and remembered.
“LEST WE FORGET”

This my friends, mes amis, is my finally posting on the Forum. I bid you all a fond Fare-Thee-Well and Adieu.
