Hi,

Just joined the forum and wanted to say hello from Aberdeen, Scotland.

For several years now I have been trying to bury the image of Scottish musicals created by "Brigadoon" and have seen several of my works reach the stage around Scotland. Indeed in the next few months "Mother of All the Peoples" (Based on the life of Mary Slessor) will be performed in the Scottish Parliament at holyrood in Edinburgh before an audience of MSPs and invited guests, "Five Pound And Twa Bairns" (about the Tay Rail Bridge Disaster) will be at Dundee REP and "Sunday Mornings On Dundee Law" at the Byre Theatre, St Andrews.

I am currently writing two new works with KEVIN WALSH (who may be known to readers through his brilliant Celtic album "Clarinda's Reply" - SUNDAY MORNINGS ON DUNDEE LAW and CLARINDA (about Nancy McLehose and her platonic love affair with Robert Burns).

I would be delighted to hear from anyone who might be interested. Meantime you might like to check out my web site at www.hamepages.com and our site at www.clarindathemusical.com

Hello Mike,

So glad you found us - I certainly hope you not only like the music, but the forums and very nice people, too!

I am very glad to hear that you write musicals based on the land that you know best - as well as historical figures that most people can relate to. It's also very interesting to hear your take on "Brigadoon", since I was never aware what most Scots thought about the musical before. My wife and I have a very warm place in our hearts for that musical, but we know that it's much more Hollywood than Holyrood. wink.gif

I look forward to reading more of your posts, as well as perhaps seeing one of your works!

Blessings upon your day!

Many thanks to all that have posted messages welcoming me to the site.

I have been reasonably content seeing my theatre works performed around Scotland but your comments have set me thinking.

I am sure the plays would travel well to ex-pat communities and I'll file a post to see if there any one out there interested

Greetings from Michigan's Upper Peninsula . You found a great place on the net. Hope to see one of your plays in the states someday. Glad someone is doing something about the Brigadoon image. Always wanted to rewrite that one into a fantasy drama. That and the stage version of Dracula both need updating.

Hi Lynda,

I hope that the Byre Box Oofice is right. We have been luck enough to sell out the last twice we have been there and it would be nice to complete the hat trick!
