Welcome Tami, I've been to Skye and certainly can understand why you may be a bit homesick,it's incredibly beautiful. I know you will enjoy your stay here in Canada , with some luck you'll be able to travel about and take in more of this vast country. You speak Icelandic, you're near Gimli Man. and my understanding is that it was originally settled by Icelandic immigrants. Hey why don't you teach us all at on the site here a few Icelandic words like "hello", "goodbye","thank you" etc. Blackdog
I am in the US but close to the border, Ely MN is the end of the road here, about 5 miles across the water is the border. So yes very close indeed, but still in the US.
Welcome TamiMcLeod! I hope you enjoy your stay in the States but I can understand being a little homesick for Scotland too. I am sure you will enjoy the Celtic Radio family as everyone is very nice. If we can do anything to make you feel more at home, just let us know.
Thank you so very much Are you from the homeland too? Tami
TamiMcleod, a hearty welcome to you. Now how in the world can anyone who speaks so many languages be boring??!! Why just the fact that you are a polyglot is exciting, how many times do you get to use that word in a sentence!!!LOL. seriously, welcome, I hope and trust we can help with your homesickness and keep you occupied til the time to return home. I wish you all. the best we can offer you here and may your travels be wonderous and filled with awe. Regards, UlsterScotNutt
LOL ok heres a funny thing.. I always try to pick a word each week, more for learning more proper English, and use it in a sentence lol, and that word i picked weeks ago, and never got the change to use it lol...
And here you are lol...
Polyglot (computing), a computer program that is valid in more than one programming language
Hyperpolyglot, one who can speak six or more languages fluently
Well TamiMcLeod, you are very spry for 99 years old,
You should share your word of the week by creating a topic with just that subject and we can all have fun using your choosen word to create sentences!!!!
I am a firm believer in eschewing obfuscation and we can all learn together. USN

Welcome Tami Mcleod from your old, historical country to our not-so-old country. I would think you are far from boring (or bored) being able to speak those languages and being from Scotland where many of us only hope we can get to someday!! Have fun in our community and welcome
Welcome Tami, greetings from south Florida. I hope your stay is a great. I am learning French right now. I plan on spending some time in Quebec next year and possibly crossing the pond after that. Anyway take care and enjoy. Clint

Robbie and UlsterScotNut, Thanks, Yes I have been listening to CR.net since January, I just set up a founder account in April and yes this was my first time posting. I have navigated through quite a bit of the site and really enjoy Highlander Radio while at work. Work has really slowed down lately so I figured WTH get on a post. Thanks again for the welcome. Clint
