What Is Magick
I thought this would make a good topic to start out with... I found this on the net, and it is very simply dispels everything that some religions, old superstitions and of course Hollywood have tried to make people believe magick is.

Magick is finding your connection to the Earth and all that is natural, alive and moving in the universe! It binds all that exists together.
Magick is living in balance with the flow of life, and knowing that you are a vital force within that flow. Magick is everywhere! In the trees, rain, stars, and in the sea. It is the spark that quickens a seed to rise up from the soil.
Magick is laughter, joy, wonder and truth the of the world around us!
It is the subtle enchantment that reminds us not to waste a single moment of this gift that we call life! Magick is not greed, or power, or pretense...It is real. It exists. And it works.
Magick is the mystery that lies in the secret soul of the world. It is the essence of creation. What we imagine, we have the power to create!
MAGICK IS WITHIN YOU...
With it you can create your dreams, heal your world, love your life and find the peace that lives in every human heart.
Author Unknown

I thought it was nice.... Some people might call lighting a candle at a church vigal(sp?), magick. Lighting the candle, and wishing/praying for a result... That is a magickal ritual.
Change thru will...

Yes that is great!!!!

Magick is just plain life and the understanding that what ever you do has an effect on your surroundings. If you take you must give back, if you give you must be prepared to recieve thrice, if it is good you will recieve good 3 times , if it is bad so the same goes.

There is a lost book of the christian new testiment that only a very few in the Vatican have seen... if it were to be made doctrine it would shake the world to it's knees! In this book the great Jesus lifts a rock when asked where is Gods kingdom... " here under this rock and in the life of this tree is where my fathers kingdom is when you understand these things you will sit at his side..."

I heard of this passage and some others from a great uncle that was a Jesuit priest and had access to the libraries in the Vatican. I only wish I had listened to him more when he was alive.... you see I was only 19 when he died and not many 19 year olds listen to religion well!

The reason I post this here is because these beliefs are also Wiccan.

I think those beliefs cross many religious and spiritual boundaries.

There are several gospels not included into the New Testament, the most well known is probably the "Thomas-Gospel". There was a synode at the beginning of what was christendom and the highest cardinals, bishop and the pope decided which gospels should be included into the Bible and which not. The bishops that believed and voted for gospels that were not included were expelled...

Some of the Gospels not included into the New Testament sees Jesus as a more spiritual person, not as a person that walked on earth. The Cathars?Albigensians lived after these gospels and preached that God was not a being in heaven but more to be searched in each and everything, most in the heart of one's self. Those beliefs (and other practices) made the Cathars so dangerous to the Catholic Church, and these beliefs and practices were the reason for the Albigensian Crusades and the distruction of the Cathars in the 12/13th century.

There are some interesting pages on the net (some should be read with a watching eye because they contain weird material) and those who are interested can contact me about that by pm or other smile.gif

This doesn't really belong to the topic but I thought I'd post it anyway because I thought that it might be interesting to know.

That was my point! What the churches would share with the people was edited and revised to achieve the end that they were looking for, and not always the truth nor complete story.

That was one of my biggest reasons for turning away from Christianity. It still has a special place in my heart, but I just feel it is not the true way for me.

likewise....

I find it to be a nice book of morals. But to be 100% factual. I can't.. things get lost in translations, and edited to ones liking ( ie King James Bible)
It is after all a 2000 yr old text! We don't know what the original read like...

Hell, in 2000 yrs Tolkin, could be believed to be "real" With the amount of information that he made...ie Languages, past histories, family trees...

I don't mean to offend ANYONE.. it was just an example...

Right, The ten commandmants are a good example of that to me. The are generally some good things to do, no matter what religion you are. (With the exemption of the other gods stuff etc..)

One would think that do not lie, steal, or sleep with your friend's spouse would be common sense.

hmm... well, read the satanic "bible" they got interesting commandments too...

I always thought that being Christian is in the way you behave, not in what you believe.

((BTW: I read the Satanic Bible.. for something invented as nemesis to God, it's not too evil wink.gif That might be blasphemie but I think so, sorry if I offend anybody, but I live after the motto "know your enemy" (well, know as much as possible, actually tongue.gif ) which makes me read all the stuff I can find. In the case of Satanism, I'm so sick and tired of being mistaken for a Satanist, just because I wear black, leather and my make-up is gothic... it makes me soo angry sometimes...))

I might get flamed for sayting this, but I see what people refer to as Satanism as just another version of Christianity, just turned upside down. Wouldn't one have to believe the tenents of Christianity to worship the opposite?

I think what a lot of people are calling satanist are actually Setians who worship Set. Am I wrong here?

It depends:
Real Satanists actually worship the Nemesis of God, as in his/its function as the Negative. Instead of placing Agape (love your next) high it's the love of one's self. You could say satanism is the religion of the selfish.

There is a number of Sethians, but Seth is in his definition different from Satan. Seth is not the Nemesis of anything, he has an entirely different function (egyptologists could tell you more about that, I never really got into that aspect).

These two religious streams are similar in some ways but base on entirely different beings.

(btw: ppl that sacrifice children etc are pseudo-satanists (freaks). The Satanic Commandments clearly state against that.)

I read a book about the modern western religions and streams, the author said that you can't actually negate God without acknowledging the image you have of God. (it sounds complicated but after pondering about that for a while I got the sense behind that. I just translated it badly..)

I think that was what I was trying to say. I just couldn't think of how to say it.

I don't know too much about them (Setites) but thought I would post what I found via the net....
