I saw "Lady in the Water" this week. I adore Shyamalan and I liked this movie, but I hesitate just a bit to recommend it. The plot line is very muddy until you understand that this is adapted from a running bedtime story Shyamalan actually told his kids. Not sure the adaptation works 100%. Visually it's beautiful, the acting is wonderful (Paul Giamatti is making a leap to A list, I think, and he gives all us slightly pudgy plain people much hope -- superb job in his role). It's very funny in many places, and totally uplifting (so if you side with the 85% of critics lately who would rather die dipped in acid than have their hearts warmed, you will hate it).

Yes Superman Returns was really quite well done. I like the new kid as Superman.... Spacey as Lex Luthor though leaves a bit to be desired...Hackman was a much more devious Lex I think.

If the new Teenage Mutant Nija Turtle movie coming out next year is as good as its trailer, I would say that Superman and the rest of the heros have got some new competition. Heath Ledger better be good as the Joker to beat them

I saw Monster House. Isn't it sad that all I see are kid movies? Anyway I kinda liked it, my 8 yr old really liked it and my 6 yr old said it was too scary. I hear some places have it in 3D which would be really cool!! Maybe my next submission will be a more grown up film? Nah tongue.gif

'Tis an old one, for sure
But I needed a quick visit
To the Old Sode

Yesterday, rewatched the "The Quiet Man"
Still makes me sigh - and cry...

Parts of it were filmed
In Cong on the West Coast...
How grande a place is Ireland
That fifty or so odd years later
Some of the same landmarks
Written in celluloid history
Were those I saw on my last trip over...

And grander yet,
That those landmarks were there
For centuries before that....

Such is Ireland...
I need to go back
Soon... sad.gif

O come back to Ireland! Come back with me!

I finally got to see Tristan & Isolde. I enjoyed the film. I didn't expect that ending. I thought there were a few good sword fighting scenes. Very good drama...

I have to say I enjoyed Tristan & Isolde more than I thought I would. Matter of fact I bought the DVD.

V for Vendetta is an excellent movie, because it mirrors what happening in our countries right now.

Just saw a movie called: PROPOSITION. Itís set in Australia in the 1800Ēs. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it an 8.5. But, I wouldnít recommend it for children, or the faint of heart. My wife had her eyes closed for half the movie.

Try not to get arrested. John

"The Wind That Shakes The Barley" set in 1920's Ireland, excellent movie, certainly made me think re IRA/British Army..

"Lucky Number Slevin", I don't think Morgan Freeman has ever been in a bad movie, this is a very good one..

"The Devil Wears Prada", silly but fun, Meryl Streep is just great in this, as she is in most of her films..

"Volver", great movie, I watched it in Spanish and even although I couldn't understand a word I still enjoyed it..
