Celtic Radio Community > Technical Support > Im-tuner?

So a few days ago I was able to listen to Highlander on the IMTuner software.  In fact, that is how I found you!  However, the station seems to have disappeared form their FOLK category and is nowhere to be found.  I really liked their interface especially the feedback "smilies" one was able to send to the station.

Is this a permanent thing?
Thanks!

Hi Weaselboy,

I am sorry to say that Highlander Radio will not be listed on the IM band any longer. We brought down our shoutcast 24k modem stream in preparation of 9/1/02. This date is significant because this is the date that new royalty rate payments start happening for people that had been covered under a legit RIAA license. Unless there are some new laws introduced to exempt stations like Highlander Radio, we will be limited to broadcast in association with major third party radio broadcasters like audiorealm and live365.

True, there maybe some broadcasters that are continuing to broadcast, but this is in violation of the new rules and will earn them retro-active fees in the 1000's of dollars once Soundforge (the company that will distribute the fees) contacts them - which I am sure will happen shortly after this date.

Highlander Radio has chosen to continue as a legit broadcaster and if new laws are introduced that will allow us to expand our broadcast, so be it - we will then be back on the IM band.
