Ok, I've found "Blackleg Miner" on Smoky Finish's "Clear This Planet...Immediately", and started giving it a real close listen. I've been looping it for the last couple hours, and digging around online for information. Found out it's a traditional piece, and a really shady story about he who tries to report to work during a strike.
I'm starting to wonder if I could try to learn it on whistle, but I've not gotten to the point of being able to learn by ear yet, specially when I'm trying to match a guitar chord, fiddle, or worse yet, a lyric. I found one PDF that I ddin't know how to read, but anyone willing to help me find sheet for it that I could use? Or have advice on a better way to try to learn music? Or perhaps can help me read the PDF at this site: http://www.lecairde.de/Lieder/Blackleg_Miner.htm
I see no way to determine the value or duration of any but a couple of 16th notes.

One thing about it. he has a reason for trying to sneak in to work!

I'm the other way Aaediwen, I play the whistle by ear, but cannot read music.

I like Steeleye Spans' version of Blackleg miner, have you heard it?

I ran into it every time I turned around on my Google search, but I've never heard anything from Steeleye Span to know it. Starting to think I should seek them out.

Ok, strike this. apparently the file has the full notation which I was not seeing, I'm guessing due to an outdated version of XPDF. I'll certainly be updating that ASAP. Got it. thanks anyway wink.gif
