Hi BIG HELLO to everybody from "Bonnie Scotland" I came across your site by accident searching for the lyrics to Barretts Privateers a great song by Stan Rogers which was performed by the Corries who in my opion are excelent.

I love all tradional music my father was a great singer and when the pubs emptied he and his pals would head home and have a party and sing all the old Scottish and Irish ballads and rebel songs,so all his kids were taught how to play various instruments so that he would have his own band.As for myself I still play in the local pubs hence the reason for searching for the lyrics and liked what I saw on your site.

All the best to everyone on the site "Scots Wha HAY"

Welcome Border Reiver from the state of Georgia. That is a neat story about your father. It is important that we pass these things on to our children - such as songs and stories. Hope your stay here is enjoyable. This is a great group of people - just like family. smile.gif

Hi everybody
Thanks for the warm welcome still finding my way round the site hopefully in the near future I will be more active with the odd post

As for the ueser name "Border Reiver"I live in the Scottish Borders which is mostly country towns with strong traditions to the past being maintained which maintains a pride in who we are.The Reivers were the Border bandit clans who raided over the border for generations with names like the Scots,Elliots,Armstrongs and others with a strong clan system still present today as there was then.

All the best BR
