Hearing the national media going on and on about their 26 World Series titles gets kinda tiresome after awhile. It makes me wish for the Yankees of the 1980s, when the only good players they had were Rick Rhoden and Don Mattingly.

The Yankees who are owned by George Steinbrenner annually spends the most for player's salaries than all the other teams. In 2003, they spent about three times as much money on their players than their opponent the Florida Marlins. Smaller market teams can't afford to pay these outlandish salaries to attract top players. Fans will route for the underdog to beat the Yankees regardless of who they're playing. Some teams develop their players trough their farm systems and some teams are "store bought". The Yankees aren't the only team to do this but they are far and away the best example of money talks. Don't blame the players, it's the system their playing in. Craig
