Music is the Esperanto of the heart (Atahualpa Yupanqui) Our vocal group gathers regularly in this spirit to explore the sounds we like… Françoise De Keuleneer and Thierry Paternottre started the band in 2001, covering Barbara, Joan Baez and Loreena McKennit. Very soon, Jean-Louis Laenens, old friend of Thierry, joined bringing his favorites of celtic music into the repertoire : Clannad, Dervish, La Lugh,… To complete the band, Mairead O’Leary, a pure irish fiddler and thin whistle expert, played more than a year with us but after her departure we continued with Sandrine Adam, an academy violist who combined several Irish jigs in the “Morrisons’jig medley http://www.youtube.com/watc… . After her move to the South of Belgium, Carine Wéry took over the fiddle. Actually we evolved towards World Music, ancient songs from the Renaissance, the great periods of english folk rock, good french songs, and, of course, dear Ireland !! In november 2010 Françoise De Keuleneer decides to leave the group. Muriel Sarramona, a violoncellist and harpist , joins the group in December 2010. In January 2011 Sophie De Saedeleer joins Phalaïna as the new lead vocal singer ! Phalaïna's second CD "Bella de Vos" was launched on April,16 2012.
