Defender of the Crown
Posted by CelticRadio on Jul 16th, 2012 7:08 PM
Defender of the Crown is a strategy computer game designed by Kellyn Beck. It was Cinemaware's first game, and was originally released for the Commodore Amiga in 1986, setting a new standard for graphic quality in home computer games.

The game is set in England in the Middle Ages where, following the death of the king, different factions are fighting for territorial control.

The player assumes the role of a Saxon (Wilfred of Ivanhoe, Cedric of Rotherwood, Geoffrey Longsword or Wolfric the Wild) and tries to fight off the Norman hordes and wrestle for control of England. Eventually, the player must fight for control of all territories, and those controlled by other Saxons if they became your enemy. The player must amass armies and fight for control of opponents' castles. The player may engage enemy armies in battle, loot or lay siege to opposing castles. Territories can also be won in the periodic jousting contests. From time to time the player may attempt to rescue a damsel in distress and can appeal for help from the legendary bandit Robin Hood.

Makes me want to take out my Amiga and give it a try again!

Journey Enhancements
Posted by Macfive on Feb 12th, 2007 10:12 PM
We added a few new journey enhancements today. These are mostly visual, such as larger cues for adding new entries and in confirming entries. Before, it was a little confusin - we hope now it is clearer. Give it a try! biggrin.gif

Dark Shadows on Celtic Radio
Posted by Macfive on Jan 30th, 2007 7:50 PM
An evil and dark shadow of deception is spreading over Celtic Radio. My worst fears come true. All seemed to have been restored to its once beautiful and peaceful existence - but it was just an act - the ultimate act of deception. Things seem clearer now that I am not under this spell. Raise your shields and ready thy sword. The time is fast approaching........

Journal Improvements?
Posted by Macfive on Mar 19th, 2006 9:38 PM
I've been thinking about making some improvements to this journal system. For those that may not know, an online Journal is referred to as a Blog. I'd to have a better editor for placing pictures, links and alignment. Also, would be nice if you could have some background music and possibly some sort of archive on the left to look at previous posts.

Well, in other matters I am now officially beginning my Java education. Although I have taken a few Java courses, I now need to get educated on the best IDE to use and to understand what exactly NetBeans is.

The possibilities are definitely good with Java. Will be able to hook up the database and do some queries. Also, developement on PDA's and Pocket PCs looks supported.

Now just need to wait for the 230 meg download to end for the free Java Studio 2 Creator!
