Since this forum has been rather slow lately, I was just wondering what everyones favorite Celtic/Scottish music performer or band was!

I really do not have one, so maybe this would help me find a good one!

Slots one and two are a tie between Loreena McKennitt and Heather Dale. I think Lydia McCauley is going to have to enter the fight now too smile.gif

Loreena McKennitt is a good 'un. Glengarry Bhoys are up there in my heart too. Then there's Old Blind Dogs (we need MORE of them, Paul!), Silly Wizard and then Andy M. Stewart when they broke up...um...hm...there's so many!

Clannad (and Maire Brennan's solo stuff)
Mary Jane Lamond
Dougie MacLean
Loreena McKennit
Distant Oaks

How's that for starters? smile.gif

Dragonboy,

Solas, especially the first three C.D.s with Karan Casey singing.
Silly Wizard!!! Can't emphasize the importance of this choice and in total agreement with Sekhmet.
Andy M. Stewart!! If you like Silly Wizard, you can't stop when they did so continue on with Andy M. who was the singer for Silly Wizard. Sekhmet knows of what she speaks.
Lunasa - Irish instrumental powerhouse
Corries - Without them, such classics as Flower of Scotland wouldn't be.
Tannahill Weavers - Alive and kicking to this day.
The Chieftains - Like I have to say anything here!!

Anyways, the list goes on. Over 100 Celtic C.D.s sitting to the right of me and so many more to get.

Enya is probably my favorite, having been what I listened to first. But luckily I have been educated a bit by listening to CR, so there are others I have been exposed to now! Loreena is great, as well as Capercaillie, Susan McKeown (who I don't think is able to be played on here yet....goes searching).

My favorite has to be Enya. She sang the song to the ending credits of The Fellowship of the Ring and tons of other great ones. My favorite song is Flora's Secret. I love her music. I also love Loreena McKennit, Capercaillie, and some more pop (well known to the average kid) bands like The Cranberries and Flogging Molly.

It would seem that Capercaillie, Loreena McKennit and the Corries are popular favorites, and deservedly so. They are on my list as well.

I would like to add Cara Dilan, the battlefield Band, and Kate Rusby to the list.

Hey I'm all so looking for some lyrics...
Any one know all the words to , " the Corries, ' bonnie dundee" ?
