Does anyone know if there is any free downloadable software on the internet that would allow me to know when someone is trying to call me while I am on the internet? Our friends are complaining that they can't get through because I am on the computer all the time!

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

I don't know of any but a good place to start is zdnet.com. They have listings of all sorts of software. Are you on a Windows box?

Normal is a relative term. For some reason it is not a term my relatives use to describe me.

before i got my cable modem i used callwave.com. it was free then, but may not be so now. when i had it they had a free version and a paid version. my mother in law uses it and i know that she pays but i don't know if they still offer the free version. when a person calls it will tell you who is calling and if you want to talk to them you click on it and it will put the call thru and you have a certain amount of time to talk before you will get booted from the internet. 4 min or something like that. she seeems very pleased with it. if you don't wish to talk to them it will take a message for playback online. you can change your outgoing message too i think to tell them to call your cell if that is an option for you.
good luck on whatever you choose!

"You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever,
But you rode upon a steamer to the violence of the sun.
And the colors of the sea blind your eyes with trembling mermaids,
And you touch the distant beaches with tales of brave Ulysses:
How his naked ears were tortured by the sirens sweetly singing,
For the sparkling waves are calling you to kiss their white laced lips."
"The tiny purple fishes run laughing through your fingers,
And you want to take her with you to the hard land of the winter."

I also use cable, but I know there are several programs, callwaves for one.
Go to www.download.com (thats the zdnet site, just a short cut), but deffenently read the statement about the program before you down load.

Thanks everyone! I will go to zdnet and have a look around just as soon as I can pull myself away from celticradio! It's like the Swirling Vacuum of DOOM! It just keeps pulling me into another topic and another topic until I just can't seem to remember what it was that I was supposed to be doing in the first place!

um.....

Does anyone know what day it is? unsure.gif smile.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I have the same problem as I am on dial up and my small town does not offer HSI. However, I remedied that problem by upgrading my cellphone and those close to me I want to talk to, I hear from them from there. Made life a lot easier and alot less complainiing from family and friends! cool.gif

My uncle uses call forwarding. If the land line is busy, they're forwarded to his cell... At least I think that's how it works...
