I was just wondering if anyone here loves Broadway, and if so, what shows? Personally, I'm a huge fan of Les Misérables. Hope to see it in England this year, but may be dreaming I love the music and the story... I also just recently saw Man of La Mancha which was great... I probably would love more shows if I had more money, but what can you do? For now I just listen to the music and fall in love with something I've never seen

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ hehind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in quiet, Christ in danger, Christ in the heart of every man who think of me, Christ in the mouth os everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me. ~ St. Patrick
I just go for the biggies. Phantom and Jesus Christ SuperStar. And I saw Carousell when I was 12 or 13.
Moulin Rouge was alright. A bit too modern, but at least someone is trying to bring musicals back to mainstream and film. As far as those on film, White Christmas is one of my altime favorites, even though it's as seasonal as you can get. Pretty much anything with Bing Crosby, and Danny Kaye, come to think of it.

I have never yet spoken a word of English to any of my children. They can speak as much English as they like to others, but when they talk to me they have to talk in Gaelic."

Phantom of the Opera Les Miserables West Side Story. I've also been to "Cats", "Miss Saigon", "Lion King" and newer versions of "Hair" and "Jesus Christ, Superstar". There are still some I would love to see...

I just recently saw the Court Jester with Danny Kaye in it, and thought it was pretty funny. Bing Crosby is great though... I'm not as much into film versions of musicals as I am Broadway. There is something so awesome about stage! I also love Phantom and Miss Saigon even though I've never seen them. I have most of the music memorized! My very first Musical was Annie get your Gun, and I hardly remember it. Beauty and the Beast in Toronto was well done though!
Last show I saw was "Smokey Joe's Cafe" at the Virginia Theatre in NYC. My good bud, Patty Darcy Jones, one of the stars of the show, gave me tickets for 5th row, center stage. She took us backstage and met the cast and director and a tour of the theatre. Had pictures of it all and some piece of **** reached under my seat during the show and stole my camera. Patty eventually left the show right before it closed to go out on the road with Cher, as her backup singer. They finished up this tour on Jan. 1 and will be hitting the road again in June. Til then, I get to hear Patty sing every Friday at one of the local pubs. It's how she keeps her voice strong until the tour begins again.
The last two musicals I saw in the West End were - 'Tonight's the Night' - with the music of Rod Stewart (it was not very good - and not MY choice, the tickets were bought by my daughter's bf....) and Jerry Springer - the Opera... which was BRILLIANT. If it ever transfers to Broadway, it is well worth a visit... I have only watched Jerry Springer a few times (he's on one of the crappier cable channels here during the day when I am not at home).... so I was a bit worried about this, but I loved it!
Here's a revue.
Jerry Springer - The Opera is currently the hottest ticket in London. Following unprecedented rave reviews and standing ovations from critics and public alike, the run has been extended twice at the National Theatre, and now transfers to the Dress Circle close neighbour, The Cambridge Theatre for a West Run.
The show combines the musical, comedy and opera genres and has been described in the Observer as ?The most explosive theatrical event for years, and the biggest thrill for decades?, by Liam Gallagher as ?The best f**cking thing I have ever seen? and of which Jerry Springer says ?I only wish I?d thought of it first?.
?I have no hesitation in declaring Jerry Springer ? The Opera to be the greatest production on earth? Kevin O?Sullivan, Daily Mirror
