Do this and you are guaranteed to be rich: Only have 3 workers. Invest your money in buildings and do that every day. Stay in the lower ranks to avoid attacks.
By the way, if I hadn't been strucked by the tax bug I should probably be twice as rich by now...

How the heck does that work? This game has so much potential. I love it, but it is way too glitchy. Lets try to stay in the top three. I think they give stuff away.

What I'm more interested in is: What the heck caused you to jump so high
Buildings are not worth any points when the score is calculated, so as long as you only have buildings you can stay low and at the same time build up a huge amount of resource income.
The reason to stay low in the score is that only the ones lower than youre score and the ones close above your score can attack you. So staying with a 30 or 120 score while developing your kingdom will make you almost invulnerable.
And when the time seems right you start building your army. The army will get your score up in the sky.
You should be careful with workers, they are mainly useless and not worth the money, they will only raise your score a bit and make you an easy target. So next time only use the 3 workers you get at the game start. Begin with doing research and construction, after that only buildings. And after several months when you are satisfied with your incomes start with your army.
Hope my tips will help your kingdom to be even stronger next game round.

One more note, stay away from building guard towers, they are useless and if I remember correctly they will also raise youre score and thats not good if you are trying to stay low.
(Knights are also over rated, not worth the money when you start building your army)
I am fairly new to the game and have been just trying different things to grow my kingdom. I have been adding workers assuming that it would increase my production in mining and lumber but it seems by you post that this is not the case. Is there any way to reduce the number of workers once you have them?
It's true that workers will increase income, but they are not worth the cost and the risk from being attacked. So buildings are the best choice even if it maybe feels slow in the beginning of the game. Eventually your income will pick up speed as long as you invest everything in buildings every day.
Unfortunately you can't get rid of the workers, you can only hope that someone will steal them...
Thank you for letting me know I should have read a little more in the forums before I started. I assume as long as I have them training them and putting them to work will generate additional income in the long run.
Not sure if this is a bug or not but my construction and research pages are now blank this may be normal as I have built everything that was in construction. Does this change as you advance in score?
There are no more construction and research after both pages has gone blank, no matter how high score you have.
But it doesn't hurt to check the pages from time to time, in case there is a game update, but I don't think it will happen any time soon, everyone has waited for game updates for years...

Wow, just realized there is some activity on the Medieval Kingdom Game.
Yes, we plan on continuing the development of this game. Right now we are evaluating a new platform to use for this game to create a mobile app. We have to decide what to do with the web version and if we will have further updates.
But we are still interested in seeing this game to finish completion at some point, whether here, through a mobile app or both.
