Just wanted to provide a general warning about a new social media sight that is coming to your neighborhood called Nextdoor.com or simply Nextdoor.
This App promised to be sort of a local neighborhood community, the problem is the police and local town government are highly embedded in this app. In addition, there are questionable moderation of posts made and some of the worst people imaginable are using it to degrade, embarrass or otherwise wreck havoc on views that they disagree with.
So just a friendly warning to be careful if you get a post card in the mail asking to join, you may want to consider all of your personal information will be available even where you live on this App.
I personally would recommend not to join, but perhaps other people have found something positive about this app and can add to this thread.
So, I went there (I know, curiosity killed the cat) to see what their privacy policy and member terms of agreement are, and they're contradictory to say the least. They won't give your information to third parties, and yet they talk about how third parties are allowed to use your information.
That coupled with the fact that three pages left 17 cookies in my browser is enough for me!
Well, and the fact that I have to use my real name and address. Um...no, thank you. I have a stalker ex who has been stalking for 30 years. I'm not about to make it easy for him now!
Thank you for the heads-up, just got this postcard in the mail yesterday myself. Though I viewed it with much skepticism, I thought that I would look into it but not before I checked out the neighbor whose name appeared on the card. Nothing on the surface of it but you can learn a lot just by a little observation. Seems to me as somebody's more interested in your business than their own. I am always suspicious of someone looking out for my best interests. Thanks again for sharing your concerns...

I just got a postcard again yesterday from a different "neighborhood!" Seems they are bound and determined to get you involved. What's interesting is the reviews on sitejabber.com. Holy cow! Abuse of power, 'leads' getting changed for no reason, accounts being canceled because the person disagreed with the moderator...way too many to list, but geez. No thank you!

Shades of Facebook! I do not trust most social media except CelticRadio and one other cooking sight I am a member of! Your info is all they are after, and the police and government welcome them with open arms! Steer clear!

One can not profess to be of "GOD" and show intolerence and prejudice towards the beliefs of others.

This sounded like what my lovely wife's aunt got involved with last year and after checking it out my concerns are well founded. Not only is it annoying and tedious but it has become invasive to the point of harassment...Again, thank you for passing this on...
