I hope all that celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful day with family and friends...I know I did...and now it's time to clean up the mess!!! Where to put all the leftovers unsure.gif The one thing I'm thankful for is, tomorrow I won't have to cook!!!! biggrin.gif

If anyone's brave enough to go shopping early morning tomorrow I hope you get lots of good deals. biggrin.gif

All was going well yesterday, (for our annual sit down thanksgiving dinner for thirteen people). But then as luck would have it, our oven conked out only one hour into cooking the turkey. But then our lucky turned again, when we learned our neighbor had done a slow overnight cook of their turkey, leaving their oven available for our turkey, which is where we finished cooking it.
Of course I had to run across the street every half hour to baste the bird, but in the end. It turned out to be one of the tastiest birds we’ve ever had.
Anyway, it sure is nice to have friends.

I have to disagree with you. The first thanksgiving in North America was celebrated long before any white man set foot on our fair land by the American Indians (First People). The called it by another name but still it was thanksgiving with feasting and prayers to the Great Spirit for a good hunt and bountiful harvest.
I still say thanksgiving should be everyday. We should always remember our blessing we receive and be thankful for them.

RebeccaAnn;

I do apologize I should have said the first European to celebrate Thanksgiving. As I said though it had nothing to do with the Harvest or Hunt just the fact He and his crew had survived a most arduous journey in search of the N.W. Passage.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out, and that you have giving neighbours. The same thing happened to Angela and I one year, on Christmas Day! We were hosting that year (there were a few of us families in Edmonton who would get together for the meal at alternating houses each year) and it happened just after the turkey came out of the oven. The sad part was no pies got cooked that year. sad.gif
